Also able to eat broth, still a little sore on my left side, I’m assuming from where they took the stomach out of. But I’m so rdy to take on this new journey. 🙏🤗 The biddgest port definitely hurts the most. Wanna know some interesting information. If u have gastric bypass they leave the stomach inside 🤯 I dont know about the sleeve, since I have gastric bypass. But I thought that was very interesting when my surgeon told me that. Glad you are progressing well. I m 8 days out and no more gas pain but still have muscle pain.
VSGJen 8 Posted April 3, 2021 I’m just on my 3rd day of recovery and I had to be hospitalized an extra day because my bladder just did not want to cooperate. My nausea was the worst. You’ll never guess that dry heaving on stomach that just got cut in half is very pleasant. I finally got some stronger anti nausea meds and could get discharged. What a doozy, but eventually stating to feel better.

Is this normal I am having the same difficulty. I am 12 days post op and only 6 pounds down. It's so depressing, it's making me question my choice. Before surgery this kind of diet I would lose a ton of weight and now after weight loss surgery nothing. Everyone keeps saying gas and Water retention, because they can't really explain why. I take blood pressure meds, which include a water pill, so I am not retaining. I never even new this could be a possibility, please let me know when things change. GFitz 10 Posted April 3, 2021 I had my sleeve done this past Monday the 29th. Tolerated Water and shakes very well. Mostly felt tired. Tylenol and Advil for the most part are managing the discomfort, but I have to remind myself to take it easy. I'm doing well on the liquid diet, but find sometimes I'm drinking too fast and it causes discomfort, but all and all I feel things are going well. With my 2 week preop diet and 5 days post surgery I am down 19 pounds and very pleased! 2 Lahela and Kimberly1983@@ reacted to this
ThanaK 15 Posted April 4, 2021 Hi All My last post I was a few days from Gastric Bypass. Update: I’m happy to report that my Gastric Bypass on March 29, was a success. By that date I had already lost 20 lbs following my 4 week Optifast regimen. I was in hospital for 2 nights. I’ll be honest, this was the worst pain, nausea and gas pain I’ve ever experienced. And I’ve had quite a few procedures before, including a total abdominal hysterectomy. Thankfully the nursing staff were on top of it and they kept the pain & nausea meds coming. Gas pain persistent, inspite of how often I got up and walked to get rid of it. I was scheduled to be discharged by the 3rd day( March 31). By the way I felt on on the 30th I couldn’t possibly consider the thought of going of going home the next day. Nurses reassured me that, the 2nd day is always the worst day and that you’ll be surprised how much better you feel by the 3rd day. And they were right! Sometime during the night and early morning the pain lifted, and particularly gas pain moved out . Thank god! I’ve never felt so much relief in all my life! I was discharged as planned. I’m home now on full fluids and things are going well. I have been off pain meds since my discharge. I haven’t needed any. Trying to follow the sip every 15 min routine. Main focus is getting all my Protein & Water in everyday. Mostly doing Protein Shakes, cream of wheat & Soup broths. Looking forward to purées which I’m supposed to start after week 2 post op. 1 Lahela reacted to this

Sounds weird but I feel my lungs when they inflate and deflate. I have walked and used the spirometer. I am also barely able to stomach Water let alone Protein water or shakes. Any advice? Hey, I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all because I don’t, but you mentioned Advil above and everything I’ve read and from my surgeon said stay away from anything that’s not acetaminophen. (I think due to a blood thinning affect). It had me worried so I thought I’d just mention it. You know what’s best for you so feel free to ignore me. Good luck with your continued recovery! 1 JustJazzy reacted to this

You get to eat cream if wheat! You are so lucky! My surgeon has me on No Grains, no raw veggies, no fuits with seeds/skins, no red meat, no raw fish/shellfish and no starchy veggies. It is so difficult.

These Meds put you at high risk for ulcers. I was advised to stick to Tylenol for pain. Perhaps risk is reduced with Sleeve. Not sure. Best check with your doc. 1 JustJazzy reacted to this
