Hey, I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all because I don’t, but you mentioned Advil above and everything I’ve read and from my surgeon said stay away from anything that’s not acetaminophen. (I think due to a blood thinning affect). It had me worried so I thought I’d just mention it. You know what’s best for you so feel free to ignore me. Good luck with your continued recovery!

Thank you! I appreciate the kind advice. My surgeon prescribed the advil for me in liquid form to take alternating with the Tylenol.

To echo what VSGJen said, I was also advised against Advil. Also against Ibuprofen, Motrin, Naprosyn and Aleve. These Meds put you at high risk for ulcers. I was advised to stick to Tylenol for pain. Perhaps risk is reduced with Sleeve. Not sure.
Best check with your doc.

Thank you! My surgeon prescribed the liquid ibuprofen for me.

Yes the gas pain and Constipation were the worst! They also had to go back in and do an endoscopy through my incisions the day after surgery. I had a horrible experience, but feel like that is all almost behind me.

I’m starting to notice my shirts fitting better.

So now I’m almost 2 weeks post op on Wednesday, feeling a little soreness in my belly area kinda near my belly button. It’s annoying, anyone else experiencing this annoying pain and what it could be? Wanna reach out to y’all before asking my doctor bc I feel like I’ve asked him a million question since my surgery lol. Any feedback would be appreciated 🤗

Just going into week 3 now too. I’m so sorry to hear this. Although so far I feel relatively fine after the gastric bypass, I’m not unfamiliar to post op complications from major surgery so I can relate. Hope you get some relief and resolution to your situation soon! 🤞

My first thought was that you’re perhaps trying to be more active and/or lifting things you shouldn’t. You shouldn’t be lifting anything over 10 Ibs for 6 weeks. But if you’re following advice, perhaps some incisions are taking longer than others to heal. When my steri strips came off, after week 1, all incisions were healed with the exception of one which was slightly open and more sore. It’s closed and healed now. When you have your surgeon follow up appointment, if the pain hasn’t resolved then , bring it up. But if it’s keeping you up at night and making you uncomfortable all the time, I’d bring up now.

I almost said the same thing about regretting my decision. Week 2 and 3 were very difficult. I had complications I did not expect. To make things worse, I did everything I was told to do and I STILL had complications. I too ended up in the ER after surgery. In general I think preparing us more for the potential complications and even the likelihood of needing continued IVF and oxygen would have been appropriate. I have very few comorbidities which is why I was so surprised when I needed to go home on oxygen from the hospital.

Despite the complications and a terrible recovery I am glad I went through with it. I know the lifelong benefits of losing this weight will add quality to my life.

I hope you are feeling better. Hang in there. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
