get tighter when you get pissed off or aggervated. I have had such a day... and i cant seem to keep anything down. At one point i actually pb'd ona protien shake! Im attibuting it to my stress level and overall just being pissed off because yesterday i had a fairly 'open' day. I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else...

Lauren, YES, stress can cause the band to be tighter. If I'm having a particularly stressful day, I'm better off having something mushy, like refried Beans, because I'll get stuck on almost anything solid.

Absolutely, stress makes my band tighter. I have to be very careful if I am having a particularly stressful day and stick to something like Soups.< /p>

Yep stress likely caused the first episode, and then add swelling from that to it---and you get right where you are!

You have been given great advice, just exactly what I would do--liquids then mushies, baby your stomach, and when life settles down reintroduce some regular food.

Good Luck!

Well listening to you all here explains alot. I never would have assocciated the stress with pbing and having food stuck but I have noticed that when I am upset I have alot of difficulty eating. huh now it makes sense.

Well, keep in mind that your body is probably reacting to stress the way it always did, just now with a band in place, having our stomach tissue swell in any way actually means something to us! It probably is the same reason (whatever that is) that some people get nauseous when they are upset.

I have found that I can't eat when my little one is fussy. I get all stressed out. I have to wait till she is fed and happy or asleep. I have also found that not drinking enough Water will tighten you as well. Who knows why these things happen it is crazy.

Oh yeah...when I get stressed everything just comes back up!

When I found out I was having port complications all I wanted to do was eat, I came home and tried to eat some chicken...right back up. the doc said it is common when you are stressed out to have increased restriction.

Does anyone have any ideas to combat this stress=tighter band thing? My uncle died yesterday morning and I had a fill last friday. Ever since I found out he died I have barely been able to keep liquids down - I even PBed milk this morning. Any ideas?

Sometimes a few sips of something warm/hot helps to loosen things up....otherwise just do liquids for a few days, very, very s lowly.

So sorry to hear you lost your Uncle ((((hugs))))

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
