Lots of problems no answers, 10 years out

Recommended Posts

I had Rouen-y 10 years ago. I have had two kids since then and have regained all of my weight. Although that is a problem it's not the one that immediately concerns me. For a year I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me. My symptoms are: sternum pain, chest pain and pressure, feeling of fullness when I haven't eaten anything, excessive painful bloating and gas, extreme sweating, racing heart, heart palpitations, and difficulty taking a deep breath. I have been to an allergist because they thought I had asthma, nope. I had an EGD and upper GI study done, they found little acid and a small hiatal hernia. The gastric bypass doctor put me on omeprazole which helps a little. My other doctor thought maybe it was anxiety causing the symptoms. I have tried numerous medications and have had tons of blood work! No one knows what is going on and they don't seem too inclined to figure it out. I can't keep feeling this way!!! Please help!

Have you seen an internist or a naturopath?

I've been having the breathing issue as well. I also couldn't yawn.
It started last summer, before surgery when I was under extreme stress.
From my personal research I think it's a psychological issue. Might be anxiety.
I read that most times it goes away again, but it will take months or even years.
Now that I'm having much less stress (still in recovering phase) it's almost gone.

I can recall a friend years ago describing this very similar story after regaining their weight years after bypass. IF I recall she lost 110 pounds. Then gained back nearly 100 after having her 2 children about 7 years later. And she felt full and had chest pain and easily winded. I wish I recalled more but I do know she went on Weight watchers and lost about 70 pounds and the feeling resolved. I know this is not an answer but I share so it might give you some hope. Perhaps if you lose the regained weight the symptoms will go away. Best of luck. So sorry to hear about the regains after all that hard work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
