Calories intake 2 months post op gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

Are 100 calories a day too little? I'm eating 3 times a day but it's always less than a bite, that's my limit.

However in each videos or forum post I see, people tend to eat at least half a cup or more, about 600-800 cal a day 2 months post op.

I drink a glass of milk/juice a day in addition to the meals.

Yes!!!! You need to contact your surgeon since you should/need to be able to eat more than what your eating.

Oh really? Didn't think it was that urgent...my surgeon doesn't really care about the calories, he says I should eat only when I'm hungry but he did tell me I should eat more frequently in a day. But it's hard since I'm trying to drink 1 liter (especially since I had kidney stones). I'll contact him soon to tell him about that. Thanks!

I think it’s important to know that everyone is different, even though we have gone through similar procedures (sleeve or by-pass) we are going to react differently. 100 calories is very little, are you ensuring you are getting Protein in? Tried sipping on some shakes through out the day?

I had very little hunger for a couple of months after surgery, but I made myself consume something trying to follow a schedule of three meals and one or two Snacks. At first it could take up to an hour to finish a Protein Shake. When I got to purees and soft foods I started with two to three ounces of food. I was just striving to meet my Protein goals of 60 g per day. Don't focus on calories. Instead focus on meeting your protein and Water goals whether you are hungry or not.

Your weight loss can stall with too few calories. Once, years before I was sleeved, I fasted for a whole week, thinking that consuming only clear calorie-free liquids I would really jumpstart my weight loss. I lost ZERO pounds that week!

100 calories a day is not sufficient and will put your body into starvation mode (not being able to lose weight at all).

I am 6 weeks post op and consume around 600-800 calories right now fairly comfortably. I do measure my food to 1/4 cup and am able to eat that portion most days. If you are not getting at least 1/2 gallon of Water a day that can also lead to dehydration. If you can only eat 1 bite of food, that sounds a bit concerning to me. You shouldn't really be hungry for the first few months after surgery. I don't feel hungry but can tell when I am full or my stomach has said I have eaten enough.

This topic is covered But Yes way to little you body is going to go into defense mode and not burn fat and start to protect fat!

70 Grams of Protien

800 calories is the average around here for those who can take it.

Your like me I am never hungry and never have to eat, but that does not mean you do not need to eat

Yes, that's too few calories. Aim for 500-800 day and be sure to get your 60-70g of Protein in

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
