Loosing my hair

Recommended Posts

You can eat 300gms of Protein daily and it won't make a difference. We all did extensive research and bottom line is if it is gonna fall out it is gonna fall out and it will grow back when it wants to grow back.

It's from anesthesia and weight loss.

Amen to that. Protein schmotein. Your hair will fall if its going to fall. And if you eat Protein to the exclusion of other things like Iron (easy to do if you're a shake fanatic) then your hair will STILL fall out.

Balanced diet is all you can do. There's no proof that one nutrient over another prevents or fixes hairloss. Hair falls for hormonal reasons too - like after pregnancy when you lose all that hair that didnt fall out while you were pregnant.

Stress can make it go, too, regardless of how much Protein you are consuming. I've noticed that my Hair loss increases and decreases, depending on how much stress I'm under. Right now, it's shedding left and right, and I'm getting very good amounts of protein in my diet.

Since I've lost 53 pounds my hair STOPPED falling out. I don't know why, but I am so happy it did. I think hormones played a large part.

I also started getting B12 shots and boy has my energy level popped up! I highly recommend this!!!!!!!!!!

My hair is falling out too, but I have a thick head of hair so it could stand to shed some. Now, if I see a bald spot I am really going to freak.

My energy level is really down, I am thinking about the B12 shot. My doc is kinda reserved and has the opinion that some people are fat and some are not. Hence I am a self pay for my band, since I really had no medical issues other than being overweight. I wonder what she would say if I asked her for the B12 shot?

I had lap-band surgery, ate all my Protein, my hair fell out.

8/31 I had my gallbladder cut the heck out, my hair starting falling out about 2 weeks ago.

When my mother was younger she had a hysterecetomy. Her hair fell out.

What's the common theme here? Not Protein.< /p>

Body trauma. Anesthesia.

Hair also works in cycles. It's dormant, it's growing, it's dying.

No shampoos can stop either situation.

My hair always falls out....

I eat vegetables, take my Vitamins, and have used all kind of hair products (my big sis is a hairdresser).... But, yet and still...

It fell out during the planning of my wedding (stress)...

It fell out 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter Taylor...

It fell out 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter Antonia...

and it will probably fall out again, due to band surgery....

Thank God for hair extensions! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
