Weight lost 5weeks post op

Recommended Posts

I am with you. I am glad I found this group. I feel so unprepared now that I am 5 weeks in to this. Most people I talk with gloss over the real facts and questions I am asking. I am so lost and my family is trying but they do not know how to help. You are not alone and I look forward to everyone's advice on here. Thank you

Stalls happen along the way. Your body sometimes has to catch up with itself. I have hypothyroidism so my stalls are more frequent then the norm, but I literally have had so many I lost count. I'm actually in the middle of one right now that's lasted for 13 days so far. My last one was 15 days (my longest was 27 days) so I'm not worried, just irritated. Just keep with the plan and it'll pass.

Congratulations, you've hit your first stall. Perfectly normal. Don't panic. Most people hit it in Week 3 or 4. It'll take a couple of weeks to get moving again. Just keep doing what you're doing.

yep - it's that infamous first stall that pretty much all of us experience. Keep doing what you're doing and stay off the scale for a few days if you have to. It'll break and you'll be on your way again...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
