Jakeintheocean 0 Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) Hello, I’m having bad pain 2 days after surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it last if so? I feel as if I have broken ribs. The pain is worse today than yesterday. Edited December 16, 2020 by Jakeintheocean
GradyCat 3,695 Posted December 16, 2020 It's probably gas. Walk, walk, walk it off.
AZhiker 2,253 Posted December 16, 2020 The first few days are the hardest. It will start to get better soon. Just keep walking and sipping. 1 ANewJourneyAwaits reacted to this
Cherie04 47 Posted December 16, 2020 I'm a week out today. I have very little soreness at this point. Most of the pain I experienced days after surgery was because I was taking too big of sips. It's taken me a while to figure out my new sip size!! Walking has definitely helped me. I started back to work on Monday and I try to make a quick walk through our building every hour. Good luck!! Arabesque 7,432 Posted December 17, 2020 Are the pain meds prescribed by your surgeon managing the pain? If not, ring his team. We all experience pain differently. Unfortunately some suffer for longer while others experience less pain for a shorter period of time. I was fortunate, I put aside the opioid I was prescribed on day 4. Took an over the counter pain med on day 5 which I didn’t really need then nothing. Remember, you’ve had a big chunk of your stomach removed, so pain is to be expected but it should be able to be managed by the medication prescribed you. Good luck.
