6 weeks post op ive only lost 21 pounds and 7 of that was pre op diet today ive put on a pound help what am i doing wrong

That's still just over 2lbs a week which is great. Also, without stats like your height, age, weight on day of surgery etc its hard to advise. Your body is unique & still in the healing phase. Give it a bit more time. It may be this is the rate of loss your body can cope with & that's fine, its still going down.

I'm about 7.5 weeks out from surgery. So similar to you. I think as long as you're drinking enough Water, prioritising Protein & not completely sedentary the weight loss will continue. I use my fitness pal app to track everything that goes in my mouth. Annoying but keeps me on track while relearn portion/eating habits. I haven't really stalled yet but my surgeon said it just means I'll have a super long one down the road. We're all going to behave differently.

I'd give it some time, if you really aren't moving on scales or putting on maybe speak with your surgeon & dietitian. Also, great advice i got on here was to do measurements (neck, chest, waist, hips etc) its amazing how they change even when scales remain the same.

Good Luck!

That's a LOT of weight to have lost already. You're doing fine. Just breathe. A pound could be a Water weight fluctuation. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just follow the program and you'll be fine. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Don't panic! My weight loss progress started out very slow. After the 2 pre-op weeks of liquid diet, then 2 post-op weeks liquid diet - where I didn't get nearly enough nutrition because at some point I was OVER Protein. I think that when I finally started puree, soft, & eventually solids my body was like "HOLD ON TO EVERYTHING, WE MAY NEVER SEE food AGAIN!!!!" but now I'm 5 months & 2 days out, and 85lbs lighter. Just roll with it and know that your weight loss is coming :)

That's actually rather similar to me - At 6 weeks out I had lost 23 lbs total. I'm 40, starting BMI 35. Now, 9 months out my BMI is 26 - almost to goal. It will keep coming off, don't worry!

(And don't take the point of view that the weight you lost before surgery doesn't "count". People who lose more before surgery will lose a bit slower afterwards because they already lost all their Water weight and their metabolism has already started adjusting to the new reality.)

The main point of the surgery isn't those big losses - only some people get those, and those people are more likely to be men, tall, young, or have a larger starting weight. The main point is that the weight will keep coming off reliably for months and months and months!!! (In contrast, with a typical diet, people will usually stop losing after a month or two.)

Everyone loses at different rates. When my mom had the gastric bypass 6 years ago, she started out slow too and then maybe 2 months after surgery she was steady losing weight . It all depends on the person.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
