I had to cancel

Recommended Posts

I had all of the approvals, ready to go and I had to cancel 3 days before the surgery. It turns out I have some other medical problems that have to be taken care of right away. I am so depressed I can hardly help myself. I have not been this upset in years. I am hoping that I will be able to reschedule soon, in maybe a month or two. This board site has been a God send!! I don't know what I would have done without it. Thank you everyone!

Hang in there Seppi

I know it is hard but the good thing is you found out about some other medical problems that obviously need to be addressed, you would hate to find out later after banding and have it be a problem right? Iam a tru believer that everything happens for a reason in our lives.

Soon you will have your day :D

I'm sorry for the delay! But remember that's just what it is, a delay. You will get your band, but obviously there are some important issues that need to be attended to first. Stay focused on your goal and it will happen before you know it. Good luck!

Seppi, one of the main reasons for getting the band is to regain your health. You're just getting some of those issues resolved before you get your band. Take care of yourself and you'll be banded when the time is right. Best of luck to you!

I am sure it was devestating to be this close and have to be put on hold. Just think of it as a "bump in the road" on your new weight loss journey. There are reasons sometimes in life we are not allowed to have what we want, so be patient and just take care of yourself right now and the immediate health problems and in time, you will be a bandster along with all of us.

Keeping you in my prayers!

Some times there are reasons that we have road blocks in the road of life. I was approved in May but things kept coming up and I was not banded till July. I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason. Take care of your medical issues now so that when you are banded you will not have to worry about added health issues.

Seppi, I had the same thing happen to me. I was supposed to get banded in Oct of 04. Everything had been completed when I got a call and was told that a problem was found. This had to be cleared up before I could have the procedure done. I was extremely depressed. I thought " Why me?". However, when you really look at it, it's good to have found out about it as it could have caused more serious problems after being banded (mine was kidneys). Everything cleared up and I was actually banded in Jan of 05. Hang in there - the main thing is that you are only one step away now. ( I didn't have to have all of my tests done over again. Just a couple of them). Everything will be fine!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
