Winterfallz 3 Posted December 13, 2020 Hey y’all, I was just curious if belly wraps were okay. I am about a week post op and I feel like every time I get up or walk my stomach is going to fall out my bellybutton. I had a sleeve and I still feel a lot of abdominal discomfort. I can’t lay on my side. I have to sleep on my back. How long did y’all have have abdominal pain? And did the belly wrap help? I search it up on google and it said the pain may be caused by leakage from the stomach, I just scared myself. So did anyone else have the same experience? ksgypsy 53 Posted December 13, 2020 I had a bypass on Nov. 4, 2020. I was in pain for a month. The wrap didn't help me but may help you. A couple of days after surgery, I was readmitted because of uncontrollable watery/bloody leaking from the drain. Meds fixed that. Apparently, while not common, it happens. I had a lot of pain until Thanksgiving Day. I was thinking that I was just a wimp but that day I was in a ton of pain and the former site of my drain erupted in pus. Obviously I had an infection (no fever) and went to the ER. Two days, tons of fluids and IV antibiotics later, I felt like a new person. Of course you need to speak to your Doctor if the pain is intolerable or unusual. Hope you're pain free soon- take care!
Lynnlovesthebeach 626 Posted December 13, 2020 I used an abdominal binder for a couple of weeks after surgery. I found it helpful to not have to use my hands to support my abdomen when moving around. They gave me the binder in the hospital. It also helps with swelling. 1 Uomograsso reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted December 14, 2020 I didn't try one, but if you feel it would give you comfort then by all means give it a shot.
AmandaQB 8 Posted December 14, 2020 I had the gastric bypass and was given two binders at the hospital. They are light compression and help with not needing the pillow when getting up from a chair and such. I would totally check in with your surgical team with your pain concerns, if only for piece of mind.
