Kam-R 15 Posted December 12, 2020 Hi - I'm 7.5 weeks post surgery (sleeve) and feeling pretty good so far. My big worry is I do not seem to be able to tolerate any vegetables or fruit well, unless blended. Both my nutritionist & surgeon have told me not to worry about this as long as I'm getting my Protein in (I always hit goal) & take my Vitamins. This just doesn't sound sustainable, they've not given me any timescale for such a diet. Any suggestions welcome. It feels wrong not to be getting my greens

For veggies, I chop them up and then add chicken stock in my instapot. I cook them on the Soup function. Veggies are soft & digestible. I do carrots, zucchini, squash and kidney Beans sometimes. I’ll had a couple slices of avocado and chicken after cooked and it’s almost a daily thing for me. I’ll also dice strawberries/grapes into cottage cheese. I still meet my Protein goals but I feel much better eating fruits/veggies. Just some suggestions for you that works for me. 3 Starwarsandcupcakes, Suzi_the_Q and DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB) reacted to this
NovaLuna 710 Posted December 12, 2020 I didn't actively get into eating fruits until 3 months out (other than an unsweetened applesauce cup or the fruit that was in my greek yogurt) but I did have SOME veggies when in soft food stage. One of my favorites to make was a veggie Soup with carrots, onion, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, peppers, and vegetable stock. I also started making no-noodle lasagna which is made using zucchini instead of noodles (it's delicious). So early on it's not so much a worry if you don't get a ton of fruits and veggies in as long as get SOME it's better than none. 1 DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB) reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted December 12, 2020 this won't be forever. I can eat any fruit and vegetable now - but the first few months my fruit intake was basically berries - and I could only eat cooked vegetables.
Kam-R 15 Posted December 12, 2020 Thanks for all the replies. I will certainly try cooking them down more to make them softer/more Soup like. I hadn’t considered avocado for some reason will try with my eggs. Very glad its not forever, I miss them
