:thinkI went to Tijuana to have my band surgery last month. To be exactly it was done on 11-15-2007. I did it without any preparation. I just call few times to the doctors office and from one week to the other, I was in Tijuana having a surgery.

Now what? I am lost. I try to read as much as I can to learn from your experiences but I am lost. I get some info here and there but I don't know what is that I have to be doing at this point.

I call me doctor in Tijuana and he said to go for a fill. I have the appointment on 12-15-2007.

Right now, I just try not to eat but Soups or creams and liquids but I am not loosing any weight. I am still on pain right by the big cut.

I'm just going to pray and wait for someone to give me a hand and maybe couch me and make me feel better about my suddle decision.

Admirino,

Hang in there. Stay with the post-op diet. Even though you aren't losing pounds, you are probably losing inches which is just as important. Things will get better.

Follow the post-op diet your surgeon provided. If your surgeon did not provide one, call them and tell them to provide you with one.

The band usually can't do its job until it is able to restrict, and it usually can't restrict unless it is filled. Hence, unless you have will power and the ability to mediate your eating, you're probably not going to lose much fat until you have restriction. You may well lose weight, but it's probably going to come back once you're able to rehydrate. In other words, you can't just have surgery and expect weightloss immediately after unless YOU are owning that weightloss 100%. That may come with other surgeries, but not the band.

Since yu didn't research before hand, you're going to have to learn a lot in a short time. Best of luck on your journey. :)

I am just depress. My body is taking time to heal and I do not deal with pain that well. I guess is just a matter of time. Thank you for your words!:cry

I think it's extremely important that you seek counseling from a mental health professional. I would say that most people that are/have been morbidly obese are dealing with an addiction. With your sudden decision you may not have taken the time to realize just how much you have used food to avoid feeling other things... now here you are with no way to "fill the void" and also lacking the knowledge of how to properly deal with your new band.... it's no wonder you are feeling depressed. If you are having trouble getting answers from the doctor who did your surgery there is a link on this site where people discuss food and if you go to Amazon.com do a search under books and then type in "lap band" there are books about gastric banding and also a recipe book. Now that I have thought about it I think I will get a couple of these books as well.

Hang in there

I went to the library and got all the books they had on LapBand. I am doing my homework now "Better late than ever".

Also, I am attending classes on how to eat properly. It is more about you changing your way of thinking about food than any other thing.

I realized I need to go to the therapist to help me with my depression. I am being praying and trying not to cry like a mad lady. Unfortunate:cryly, this is creating problems with my couple. We are even thinking about going different ways. I don't know what else to do.

above you said you were eating creams... what do you mean by that? you shouldn't eat high fat things.

make sure you also follow up with a US surgeon to make sure your surgery went ok... it sounds like you didn't havemuch communication with the doctor.... I would get a full check up and make sure all went welll

You will lose weight, and you probably have and don't notice it. After the surgery, your stomach is very swollen from the trauma that it had just experienced. Stay on your liquids and make sure you get 60-70gms of Protein a day.
