late to the party here

surgery date -- 20 January

pre-op diet starts today -- woohoo we've prepping and practicing for this so I expect it to go off without much trouble

concerns -- I sometimes feel as if I've somehow failed at life for going down this path. I've successfully gone through all the mental evals and meetings with the bariatric team ... but still

no worries forward to a thinner healthier me!

I don’t think you have failed at life at all, if anything you have taken it by the horns and are steering it in the direction you want to go! I have a 13 year old and he said to me the other day ‘I think you are really brave for doing this mum’ I was ready for not really understanding Instead I got the opposite. We all make these choices for ourselves for different reasons. We wouldn’t think that someone taking depression/anxiety meds had failed just they needed a little help.

I am one day post op and feel on top of the world in my decision, albeit very gingerly stood there.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss journey xx

It went well, but I felt like I had been hit by a bus for a couple of days. Still feels surreal, but I am all good x

I had my surgery on the 11th, I was doing so good. Since Saturday I have started being nauseous all the time, and the nausea medicine doesn’t touch it. It’s causing me to not be even close to my 80g Protein and 64 oz liquids. I messaged my provider and they got me a better antinausea med but they also want me to go back to liquids 😢 I’m so disappointed. I thought I’d never have buyer’s remorse but I’m finding a lot this minute.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
