Bandsters taking Cymbalta

Recommended Posts

Hello. I want to start taking Cymbalta, but am a little scared it might upset my stomach. I have taken Lexapro, Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin, and did fine. I know this drug is really new on the market. Has anyone on Cymbalta experienced any stomach discomfort, or other big side effects? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I tried to take it . I had really bad side effects. I had a lot of stomach problems and other problems as well. Sorry but i can not remember what they were. (maybe memory problems LOL) I went back to lexapro. Very few side effects to this one for most people according to my doctor. I do remember that my problems with Cymbalta were bad. Who knows though, it might work great for you. Donna

I'm not banded yet.. (Dec 27th) but I take Cymbalta.

I did have nausea, so I began taking it just before bedtime and it helps.

I'm interested to know about this too..

I take Cymbalta now. Guess I'd better ask my doc if we need to change. Thanks for the "heads up!"

:kiss2:RDK--on my way!

I took Cymbalta for about 3 months due to a ruptured disk (it's also used to treat nerve pain). I was effective at reducing the pain, but it also screwed up my eyesight and made it almost impossible to pee.

Hi, I take Cymbalta and have not had any problems. I tried Lexapro and it made my bi-polar symptoms worse. I think everyone is different and unfortunately no one has a definite answer. I think the important thing here is listen to your body and pay attention.

Good luck:)

Hi: I did have some tummy aches for a few weeks but they went away. My dr. did warn me about it, said it's pretty common. I'm sensitive to meds but this one has worked great for my panick attacks (I was on Effexor previously, worked good for a year but then stopped working).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
