Anyone for Jan/ Feb 2021

Recommended Posts

I have a surgery date! January 25th. I will start pre-op diet 1/11/2021. I have been gone for awhile to care for my elderly mother. But I’m back. I switched surgeons back in September but they haven’t updated their records so I am waiting for them to straighten that out. I am very nervous because of the pain meds I take for injuries from a car wreck. Hopefully I will be able to crush them and still take until weight loss solves some of the chronic pain issue.

I am scheduled for Jan 28. I hv chronic lower back pain (3 dislocated discs) & had bi-lateral knee replacements 5yrs ago & a revision on the left knee 2yrs ago. most of my weight is in my stomach, so I'm hoping this will elevate some of my pain away(mainly in my back). I do want to walk & dance again w/o the pain. I hv already started the diet &lost 6lbs so I'm excited for the New yr! My birthday is in Feb so I'm looking for a Newer me very soon

I couldn’t be happier for the big day yesterday. I’m feeling ok so far. No gas pain yet and ready to go home today. Best of luck to my fellow sleeve.

Well I have enjoyed my final meal today and start pre-op diet tomorrow. 30th December I go in for covid swab and blood tests. Only 8 days to go until surgery and I'm not feeling prepared at all.

Hi everyone,

My op is on 21st Jan ( a sleeve) and my dietician has only asked me to go on a milk diet (2 litres of milk a day and unlimited Water and clear fluids )1 week before my surgery.

No one mentioned any Protein Drinks yet.

May be because my op is in the UK and not in the States?? None of you are mentioning milk diet!

Could anyone post their regimen that they are following please?

The pre op diet will depend on the surgeon, there are quite a few variations. I see many are doing liquid diets but my surgeon has me doing 800 calories low carb. White fish, chicken breast, salad and non starchy veg. Unlimited Water and tea/coffee but no milk. As my BMI is under 40 I just do 1 week pre op diet.

I’m set for 1/25. Scared to death I won’t follow the instructions post-op.

I am frightened because of my age - 65 - & dr wants me doing 60 minutes of cardio daily before surgery. I am 65 and have severe degeneration in spine, fibromyalgia, nerve damage. I can do 35 min so far but then I get injured — for days I cannot walk. I just hope I am making a good decision.

My surgery date was just set to happen on Jan 21, 2021. I start my pre surgery diet on Jan 7th. I feel like I was excited to have the surgery but since they scheduled it I feel scared. Still excited but scared now.

I am getting 1 last holiday season in with normal foods.....I doubt that's a good thing but it sure has tasted good 🙂 lol!!!!

But being I started chewing &eating small portions is hard to eat as much, plus drinking... I still hv to wait 30 mins. I think my stomach shrunk already. & yessss.... It sure taste really good!!

I hv 3 dislocated discs, 1on my right side & 2 on my left. Dr's think losing the weight will give me more energy TO move. I'm hoping so. Do what u can. Listen to ur body

I just got my surgery date scheduled for Feb 24th. Will have 1 week liquid diet which will be reviewed at my pre-op md appointment earlier in Feb. One possible issue though, I currently have Covid. I will need a chest xray to assure there is no lingering problem from the Covid. I am finishing up my quarantine and taking advantage of the lack of smell and taste right now. I also have to have an EKG, lab work and endoscopy pre op.

So sorry to hear that you have COVID. Praying for a swift recovery for you. Hopefully it won't affect your WLS scheduled for Feb. 24th.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
