Betty1971 386 Posted December 11, 2020 Don't freak out about not being about to do it after surgery!! Everything changes in an instant. The first week will you will not want to eat anything. You will have to force yourself to get your fluids in and then after you can get fluids in you will work to get in your Protein. Definitely do what you can do now to lose what you can and follow the Drs and dietitians pre op diet, my program had me on a low carb high protein liquid diet for two weeks before surgery to try to shrink up my liver as much as possible to make surgery as easy and successful as possible and those were the hardest two weeks as far as feeling hungry. After surgery I have never felt hungry, I have been super lucky and had an easy recovery as well. As long as you follow the program they give you post op and get in your fluids and don't try to push the boundaries (with no appetite its pretty easy to do) you will have no trouble. I do not know which surgery you are having but with the gastric sleeve it is pretty neat because when they remove the majority of the stomach you no longer have the hormones that make you hungry. I can't say with the gastric bypass how it works as I had the sleeve but don't freak yourselves out about how you will do it after the surgery because your tastes, systems and hunger all change big time when you wake up after surgery!!! Happy Holidays 1 Spitfireash reacted to this
LucySilva 11 Posted December 12, 2020 I’m so disappointed. They canceled my surgery due to COVID spike in my state. Does anyone else got canceled?

We are so lucky here in Australia that we have had the super strict lockdowns early and "seem" to have it all under control. I am so sorry for what you guys are going through, stay strong it will end soon. xxx 1 Lizzy2 reacted to this
snowcones 6 Posted December 16, 2020 Surgery is still going ahead here but I'm not in the US. That must be very upsetting to have surgery cancelled. Hopefully they can reschedule you soon. Everything is uncertain these days. I had appointment with dietician today which was encouraging, and start pre op diet two days after Christmas. I'm thankful I can fully enjoy Christmas Dinner! Only 17 days left until surgery....a bit worried about work - I can only have 9 days off before returning and am a nurse so will be going back into 12.5 hour shifts straight away. Not very ideal. Hats of too you Snowcones, being a nurse must be very challenging at the moment. You're a true hero in my eyes. I felt the same about the dietician, I felt so much better after talking to her. I have to start my pre op on Monday, but she's given me one extra meal on Christmas day. I'll be super limited though, it's taken a long time for me to get here, I don't want to screw it up now. From what I see on various forums and you tube, being back at work after only a few days is quite normal, though I'd imagine you are more active than most of us that sit behind a desk. I am sure your body will tell you when enough is enough, just take it as easy as you can. Merry Christmas x
Sam B 16 Posted December 16, 2020 I understand you’re nervous, and it’s normal. Just follow up with your provider and the surgeon who’s gonna perform your surgery then you should be ok. 1 Sam B reacted to this

Merry Christmas x I definitely don't feel that way but thank you for your kind words. 😘 Yes many have gone back to work soon from what I've seen, but I saw a lot say they got tired and fatigued quite quickly at work. I guess we will only know once we're back. You're right about not going too crazy over Christmas. I'm going to enjoy my main meal but go easier on the carbs and no sweets or dessert. Are you doing all liquids pre op and then just the meal at Christmas? Hope it all goes well for you from Monday. The time will fly by and the weight loss ball will get rolling! Merry Christmas and a great new year and adventure for us all.

My Dr laughted at me bcuz I was dancing 😂 I hv lost 6lbs w this diet in about 2mnths so I can imagine how much more I will b able to lose once this happens. The past 2yrs my weight has bn going up so I'm excited not to feel my stomach on my thighs when I sit or my fat under my chin when I bend my head 😅 that is so annoying to me😣 but in the long run I know it'll b worth it...... YAAAY! TO ME 3 snowcones, pdc1605 and Spitfireash reacted to this
