Digidoll 25 Posted November 26, 2020 Does anyone know if Molina/medicaid pays for a Tummy Tuck after doing the gastric bypass?Sent from my G60 using BariatricPal mobile app
catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 26, 2020 I don't know if that one in particular covers it, but most insurance policies will only cover it - or a portion of it - if you are having medical issues that are caused by it. For example, chronic rashes that don't respond to traditional treatments. Make sure if you have anything like this, that it's documented by your doctor - they'll want proof the problem isn't responding to traditional treatment. I never had any issues like this, so I had to pay out of pocket. you can always call Molina and ask if they cover this and under what circumstances. 1 Digidoll reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted November 27, 2020 Generally speaking, probably not as it is considered cosmetic surgery, but there's some chance if you have a "medical" problem resulting from the excess skin.
ms.sss 15,714 Posted November 27, 2020 I had the panniculectomy portion of my Tummy Tuck covered by insurance...so basically I just had to pay for the Lipo and muscle tightening, which was probably around 30% of the total cost had I had to pay for the entire TT. I am in Canada though, and this was covered by provincial insurance, and the requirements to qualify may be different with with U.S. based Monila/Medicaid. ...Just did a quick google search and it seems Medicaid does cover panniculectomies, but the rules vary by state. Best to call and find out for confirmation. Good Luck! 1 Digidoll reacted to this
