So after a great first week, I'm having a bad morning. Woke up and took my chewable B complex and drank about a half a Protein Shake over forty minutes or so. I began to feel like the Fluid wasn't moving through my sleeve. Had lots of burps and the saliva spit up thing twice. Took about ninety minutes to calm down. Back to sipping Water but am scared to go back to the shake. Stricture?

It sounds like you drank the Protein Shake slowly enough. Sip, sip, sip. Keep an eye on it and try again later this morning, sip, sip, sipping. If it continues to back up on you, call your surgeon's office Monday morning.

As a fellow male i figured this problem out I did the same thing.

I used to make the Shake/ smoothie and go sit on the back porch. Every so often that same thing would happen. Some other guy on this site posted this to me

You may be at a point when sitting and drinking thick liquids is becoming difficult Try Walking around during this phase and see if it flows thru better while moving around. It worked for me and for about 4 weeks had to drink and eat standing up or moving around a little, It then passed and now no problems. Your body is healing right now and is going thru Shock and Awe. So weird ass stuff is going to happen.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to finish the shake and drank about 20 oz Water since then without it happening again. I will try walking and standing while drinking.

strictures are pretty rare in sleeve patients (more common on bypass patients, but still, only about 5% of bypass patients get them) - although they're not unheard of. If it continues (after taking the advice of the people above), just let your clinic know.

congrats on your surgery. You likely still have some swelling. Plus you’ve been through a major surgery which changed an important organ. Your digestive system will be screwed up for a while & will protest at some things you try to eat or drink. It’s a bit like a petulant child - one day you’ll have something no problem & the next day it will throw a tantrum.

Alley Gator’s suggestion of taking a walk mid sips is good. I sometimes find sitting seems to make me fill up more quickly or sets off my restriction.

Take things slowly. It’s a lot of trial & error to work out what works for you. Good luck on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
