How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

my scale is hooked up to an app on my phone, so all the graphing, etc. is done for me. This allows me to see any trends in weight loss/gain and make adjustments if necessary.

Ooh, I like the sound of your scales! What make are they?!

I weigh myself twice daily - at night last thing before I go to bed and then first thing in the morning after using bathroom. This is partly because I'm interested in the fluctuations, and partly because in my (35 year) yo-yo struggles with my weight I've found that when I stop weighing daily is when I start putting weight on. Not losing, or putting on a lb or 2 doesn't worry me because I'm charting my food/drink intake and I know that if I eat 800 calories pd I will lose weight over time.

I have the Withings Body+ scale (in white, matches my bathroom, lol):

https://www.withings.com/ca/en/body-plus

Its a little on the pricey side, though. But there are lots other smart scales out there with wifi/Bluetooth connectivity for alot less...

Before gastric sleeve sx, whenever I was on one of my myriad of diets, I weighed every day. Now, post-sx, I only weigh once a week, on Thursdays, naked first thing in the morning.

I followed @ChubRub’s lead and bought a Renpho off Amazon for $23. So far I am very happy with it. I cannot speak to the accuracy of the body fat, muscle, etc. percentages, but it is great for keeping track of changes.

I also have a Renpho and my wife and I hadn't weighed in at home for 1 year until our preop last month. I had a lot of doctors office weights that I was able to monitor my weight before. We are currently recording our weight daily as we drop after surgery.

Once a month, as I'm in maintenance. Although I do have a cheeky morning weigh every now and then to check I'm on track. Old habits die hard....

I weigh every morning. I only record it once a week. I feel it helps keep me accountable throughout the day. I don't get bothered by fluctuations on a daily basis. I know my heaviest day of the week is usually Friday and my lowest day is usually Monday.

I know I have body dysmorphia because I have had frequent doctor visits after my plastic surgery and I still try to wear my lightest weight clothing and shoes because I have to get on the scale. I weighed 108.1 on their scale the other day! Hopefully some day I'll get used to the fact that I am no longer "morbidly obese" and am actually quite small!

I do the same - I STILL dread being weighed at the doctor's office and wear as light as possible clothing when I go in. Although I asked my husband about this, whose never had a weight problem, and he said he hates being weighed, too. Maybe this is a common thing???

I weigh every morning. I have a Renpho scale and I like to see the trend lines, even if it goes up and down a little between lows. I've noticed a pattern that right after I hit a new low, it bounces up a half pound or so for a few days until I settle back to the lower number.

Every day, first thing after going to the restroom when getting dressed so I can do it with no clothes on, lol

Every morning. I’ve noticed that my large weight gains in the past are all this mysterious weigh-in free time. I literally have almost a decade of data on MyFitnessPal showing drops in weight then a missing 6 month period that then reappears like 50 lbs heavier...then weight loss for a while, missing time, huge weight gain, etc.

I try to stick my head in the sand about weight gain. I need to make it a daily habit or I just stop weighing in and I know where that leads.

It is important to know your “wetvs. “dry” weight. Lol

So i was all excited to find out if being wet made any difference on the scale. Womp-womp, it does not. Was a very anticlimactic moment.

You clearly don't have big 80s hair!! LOL!! I go up .2 to .4 when my hair is wet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
