3 months out anger and mad at the world

Recommended Posts

Not sure if itโ€™s the surgery , time of year with holidays or COVID-19 . Iโ€™m angry and just a stewing pot ready to boil over. I am passive aggressive with my husband, and short with the kids. Iโ€™m overwhelmed by the anger, I spent hours away from home with the kids last night because I didnโ€™t want to see my husband. The kids had a great time, and I was relaxed. MAybe the break from the daily Routine was what I needed. I havenโ€™t been sleeping well, And I work full time, we are short staffed, the weather has been cold so Iโ€™m not out walking as much as I should.

he is a stay at home dad and doesnโ€™t socialize with people beside me and a few others. I try guideline him to places where he could engage with others. I try to encourage him, and he seems happy being at home. I enjoy having him at home to help with the kids , picking them up and so forth.... what is wrong with me..... I donโ€™t know. TIA

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I would make an appt with your PCP to discuss. Irritability is a common symptom of anxiety (as is poor sleep), so perhaps some low dose meds or counseling would help if that's the case?

Best of luck to you!!

Hello,

I am responding to โ€œ 3 months, angry.โ€ I am new to this site so forgive me if I stumble, I welcome your feedback. I do not know the history of our โ€œ angry friendโ€ I just wanted to comment, that nothing is wrong with you. We all get angry, impatient, frustrated, disappointed, & on top of that...sleep becomes a precious commodity. There is nothing wrong expressing your rage & communicating your disappointments. Please tell me how can I help? You are not alone. I do not know where your anger originates, no doubt it is legitimate and valid. It can be a challenge learning how to use this emotion so it benefits you rather than beat you up, robbing you of energy. My name is Grace. I am grateful to be part of this forum. Thank you.

Give yourself some grace right now. Not every day can be our best day. You are also likely having some hormonal shifts with rapid weight loss, as estrogen is stored in fat and is released as you lose the weight. I agree with @ChubRub about discussing your feelings with your PCP. There might be medications that can help you.

Take care!

If you have healthcare I suggest you find a therapist. It'll be good to speak with someone regularly who can give you insight and tools to manage your stress and teach you self-care options. Good luck.

So, your fat stores estrogen and when you lose massive amounts of fat in a short period of time your body dumps a massive amount of estrogen into your system. This often causes depression or mood swings. This is a known side-effect of WLS. You may be experiencing something related to this. Talk to your doctor about it. You may need medication to help, temporarily. Good luck.

These are challenging times for all of us in one way or another, the world is upside down. I'm retired and comfortable in life, but found myself caring for my two small grandchildren because of covid. I love them dearly but have come home a few times in tears. It's then that I simply tell their parents... I need a break. For me, balance is key. I also have learned that sometimes, you just have to let things go (household chores, cooking etc) and find a way to have fun with the ones you love, be spontaneous and silly, shake up the routine. Laughter can be the best medicine. And/or talk to your doctor.

I am sorry youโ€™re going through all that. I remember when I was working with just one child but her father had died. It is very challenging to hold down a stressful job, come home to even more responsibilities and then try to care for yourself. I understand how you feel. Sometimes-oftentimes-itโ€™s just too much. Just remember this little phrase, โ€œthis too, shall pass.โ€ Iโ€™ll be thinking of u!

Love that I am not alone. Just Friday I laid into him. I apologized but these new emotions make me feel insane. Sometimes I just say nothing. I started staying to myself at work to. Honesty I am proud of myself for not snapping at work.

I'm doing the same. I literally cry for no reason now and I have never been one to cry. I keep hearing what others have said about hormones. I also know that weight loss has been an enormous gift that I would never trade. And the incredibly positive mental changes I have gone through have been unreal, too. Like, just yesterday I got together with an old friend, but we are on two COMPLETELY different levels now. I had made plans for next weekend, but today I had to cancel. I just feel like I'd be going backwards. I have therapy tomorrow. I also suggest you get a therapist. The changes are a lot to handle. I once heard that stress isn't always when bad things happen. Your body experiences stress even when good things happen. Any change. Hope you get some relief.

Does your surgeon's office have psych counseling? Mine offers free lifetime counseling with the surgery. Maybe he/she would help you. Or your PCP could refer you to a therapist. Sounds like you need to talk. We're here to listen.

Hi๏ปฟย everyone! Iโ€™m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and Iโ€™m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. Iโ€™ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTokโ€™s, ect.. trying to prepare my๏ปฟย mind and what to expect so Iโ€™ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and e๏ปฟxcited. However, now that Iโ€™ve done everything & itโ€™s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc Iโ€™ve tried everything and I just donโ€™t feel like I can lose weight by myself. Iโ€™m tired of being overweight my entire life. Iโ€™m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I donโ€™t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. Iโ€™m scared of complications like Iโ€™m๏ปฟgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didnโ€™t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just canโ€™t and donโ€™t possess the discipline. Iโ€™m also afraid I wonโ€™t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I donโ€™t know how to eat healthy really and donโ€™t enjoy healthyย food. I donโ€™t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!๏ปฟSomeone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.๏ปฟ
