Brittanyanne12 16 Posted November 12, 2020 I had surgery on Oct 26th, I will be 4 weeks post op on Monday. I have been losing very well, my weight on surgery day was 292.4 and I'm down to 269.7. But all this week, not even an ounce has been lost... is this normal? Its very frustrating.. 1 GradyCat reacted to this
CWeaver60 10 Posted November 12, 2020 Definitely normal. Definitely frustrating. Sounds like you are doing amazing! What type of surgery did you have?
catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 12, 2020 (edited) we call that the three-week stall, and it happens to almost everyone. If you do a search on this site, you'll find literally over 15,000 posts on it. just stick to your program and stay off the scale if you have to. It typically lasts 1-3 weeks. You'll hit a few more of these along the way, but like with you, the first one usually hits within the first month or so after surgery. I'm so glad to hear that its normal! I had vertical sleeve gastrectomy! 5 hours ago, catwoman7 said: we call that the three-week stall, and it happens to almost everyone. It makes me feel so much better knowing others have experienced the same thing!! Thank you all! 1 JenaJinx reacted to this
Brittanyanne12 16 Posted November 18, 2020 This stall is starting to get really discouraging.. I'm hitting my Protein goal about 85% of the time, I've even started some more strenuous cardio because I thought maybe changing things up would move the needle, and nothing.. this is starting to weigh on me..like I've gone through all this pain, change, completely new lifestyle and I'm stuck.... Hop_Scotch 1,632 Posted November 18, 2020 Patience is key. Stalls can last a while and for some they occur more than once or twice in the early stages. Lots of factors are at play here. Follow your post-ops guidelines, drink your fluids, be patient, exercise but don't overdo it to chase a loss on the scale. You must have seen a few non scale successes by now, remember to Celebrate those. 1 Arabesque reacted to this

My clothes are loose, I just feel lighter, but I guess it's a discouragement when that doesn't reflect on the scale.. But I will push through it, I will not regress, just hoping this stall breaks soon!
Arabesque 7,417 Posted November 18, 2020 Your body is just taking a breath. It’s going through a lot - recovery from surgery, change of diet, reduced food intake, etc. it just needs time to catch up with the changes. It may take a week or 3 but you will start to lose again. And it will likely occur again too.
GradyCat 3,695 Posted November 18, 2020 It's TOTALLY normal. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY stalls in Week 4. Not sure why, but it's perfectly normal. Don't sweat it. By Week 6 the weight will be dropping off again.

AlwaysDieting 0 Posted November 19, 2020 I am with you!!! I had surgery on 10/13 and lost quite a bit in the first 2-3 weeks. Then got stuck for 8 days, dropped 4 lbs seemingly overnight and now I am stalled again for the past week and a half. It is so frustrating!!! I follow my plan and just feel like it’s not working. 😫

I had been stalled for 8 days then lost 2.4 pounds over night and now have been at the exact same weight to the ounce as the day before for 2 days. It's a struggle..
