This term has never been brought up at any of my appointments. I can try to define it in my head, but I’d love to hear the actual verbiage to define it. I had my surgery Monday, I was switched from bypass to sleeve because of some scar tissue and a hernia near my c section scars, my doc also fixed a hiatal hernia, so I had a lot going on in there, lol. So maybe it will be brought up at my 1 week appointment, but right now I am still being educated:)

For me, my restriction feels like a tightness which runs down the centre of my rib cage. So I guess running the length of my oesophagus. I find myself rubbing that centre rib cage ridge as if to ease the tightness by massaging the bones. Lol. I sometimes thump it too. Crazy the things we do subconsciously.

I get it if I eat or drink too quickly (usually when dining out), or if my tummy isn’t enjoying something I’ve eaten.

In the case of a sleeve it is the physical restriction you get after the surgery. Your new stomach (pouch/sleeve) is only ~20% of the size of the old, so it is restricted in the amount you can eat.

Its the feeling you get at Thanksgiving dinner. Dont expect it with a by pass.

For me, I don’t feel any restriction unless I eat too much or too quickly. Eating that extra bite beyond what I should creates a feeling as if the food is coming back up to my throat. Not a good feeling, so I avoid it at all costs. Your body will teach you and it pays to be a good student!🤗 When it has happened, getting up and walking around helps me very quickly. Nothing to fear, Enjoy your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
