Oh for sure, I can’t believe that some people do it alone. What time is your surgery?

Why are you surprised some of us do it alone? I did it alone, just get Er Done is my attitude. Son dropped me off at the hospital Snip Snip and back to the room and out the next morning. I find hospitals creepy and weird so did not want to bother others. But that is just me and I like to do things on my own. I slipped into a hospital got a Stint and out without even telling my kids or wife. They had finals and we were separated at the time.

But I agree if you want someone there do it, whatever makes this journey easier Do it ........ Its you Time now

I meant no judgement or ill will, that was just my personal feeling at the moment(( fear and excitement). I think just the whole experience is major and it would be nice if someone was there to share it. But If I had too, trust and believe I will do it on my own I have waited so long for this and nothing will do it whatever way, I have to. My son lives on the west coast and he goes to what he refers to as TJ, all the time to the Doctors and the Dentist. He loves Tijuana . And OMG! I reacted the same way when he told me he was going there.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
