Em_Evolves 4 Posted November 9, 2020 Just wondering how my fellow female's cycles are going. I got an IUD about 2 years ago, haven't had a cycle until a month post op(about 3 months ago). I had 2 and now I missed my cycle this month. How crazy has your cycle been since weight loss? Did it ever go back to normal and if when how long did it take? Thanks. catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 10, 2020 weird hormone things are pretty common after surgery. Supposedly it's because estrogen is stored in fat, and when you have a rapid weight loss, a bunch of it gets released. Many women experience mood swings and screwed up menstrual cycles the first few months after surgery. But yes - it does stabilize after awhile. 1 Em_Evolves reacted to this
Em_Evolves 4 Posted November 10, 2020 Yes my mood swings have been off the charts lol, guess I'll just have to be patient. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
wannabelibrarian13 2 Posted November 24, 2020 I've had an IUD in for 5 years prior to having the surgery. I did not have a period in all that time. Now, 3 months post op I'm getting them randomly (and multiple spotting events in a month) and I really hate it. I have ruined underwear that doesn't fit me anymore which isn't a problem but when I gave in and bought new underwear I accidentally ruined that. I finally gave in and bought tampons and will have to buy panty liners to save my new undies. I had a post op visit today and the doctor just threw up her hands and was like, "We can never guess what it will do to you" and she was happy that I understood the random nature of the recovery process. Good luck. I'm following this thread for anyone who has answers because I'm looking for them too! 1 Em_Evolves reacted to this
