IKANDOTHIS 1 Posted November 7, 2020 I had my gastric sleeve surgery this past Wednesday and ever since, I have had such a hard time urinating. I feel like I have to go, but once I sit down on the toilet, it takes a lot of mental effort to get it going. And I never feel like I'm emptying my bladder. I read online that it could have something to do with anesthesia. If you had this issue, how long did it take to go back to normal?
Circlesis 59 Posted November 7, 2020 About 5-6 days to normal with improvement each day.
Daisyjayne 124 Posted November 7, 2020 I needed a catheter for over 24 hours after surgery and it took a while to feel normal again after my VSG. I was also told it was the anaesthesia.

I had to be catheterised before I left the hospital and the doctor put me on flomax for 7 days. That worked wonders and I was fine by the time I finished the medicine. Hlminichillo 5 Posted November 18, 2020 My doctor also said that if you’re using that patch for nausea -scopolamine- that it can cause you not to pee. She told me if that happened to stop using the patch.
GradyCat 3,695 Posted November 18, 2020 No, I didn't have that issue. I was peeing like a racehorse right away. Good luck with your healing.

I bet that had something to do with it too!

I felt pretty much back to normal about a week after surgery, thank goodness! 1 GradyCat reacted to this
