I'm 3+ weeks postop and no nausea but tried turkey sausage for the first time this am after working in ER (nurse) during the night for first time as well. should I hold on turkey sausage? Is this feeling food intolerance or just unrelated?

I had a hard time with a lot of meats the first few weeks. I could do shrimp and canned tuna, but that may have been it for awhile. I'm not sure if I could have handled turkey sausage, but then, I don't think I tried that until I was a ways out

It could just be too early. Stick with soft foods for now. At 3 weeks I was mainly turkey chili (cooked in a slow cooker all day), eggs and cheese

I couldn't have turkey sausage until week 8. I got to soft foods on week 6. For soft foods my dietician recommended sticking with canned or pouch meats because they are softer than regular meat because of the extra processing. I ilke the buffalo chicken in a pouch mixed with a little cream cheese to make Buffalo chicken dip. It wasn't too bad.

I’d go with the too soon too. For many of us, we were advised liquids for two weeks, purées for two weeks, soft food for two weeks. So sausages would not be on the diet until at least week 7. But surgeons do have different plans.

In the first few months, you may struggle to find foods you can tolerate. Your tummy can be very sensitive, your taste buds can change, things suddenly smell terrible & certain textures can be unpalatable. Over time this passes but you just have to be willing to take things slowly. It’s a lot of trial & error to work out what you can eat easily at the beginning & then that will change as you progress.

Good luck.

I think that might be the case, everything else has gone fine.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
