TheeMrsSanchez 2 Posted November 3, 2020 I have this chronic skin condition called Hidradenitis also known as HS. I am 4 days away from being 2 months post op VSG and having the worst flare up i have ever had! I am in so much pain under my arms. Has anybody ever heard of the condition worsening after surgery? Is it because of the hormones? Change in diet? What have you done to treat it and any remedies would be helpful! I haven't had any bad flare ups, but I also just had surgery last week. Try getting a rag and get it as hot as possible, and let it sit on the bump. You may have to go get it lanced. Sorry you are going through that I know they suck !Sent from my SM-G781U using BariatricPal mobile app
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted November 4, 2020 In my line of work, I had a case of HS and had to do some in-depth research. What a miserable condition. You have my complete sympathy. The cause of HS is multi-factorial. Experts believe flare-ups could be related to hormones, diet, excess weight, or metabolic syndrome. All of which the obese community seems to have in spades. Know: you didn't CAUSE this by your hygiene. Unfortunately, you seem to be pre-disposed AND surgery can certainly knock your system out of whack. Talk with your dermatologist (or whatever doctor treats your HS) for treatment recommendations. Here are some resources for you: Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation American Academy of Dermatology Association-HS I also find The mayo Clinic-Hidradenitis Suppurativa a good resource that's easy to understand. 2 Neller and JoanneLaRusch reacted to this
