GivinItMyALL 169 Posted November 2, 2020 Hi, all! I have fibromyalgia and a right foot that has literally 5 things wrong with it. I have lost 20lbs since I started weighing myself on the 6th of October, and my foot feels better already (I am really trying to avoid foot surgery, or at least postpone it for a long time). I am scheduled for my VSG this afternoon. My question is, has anyone else with fibromyalgia had a significant decrease in pain levels after losing their excess weight? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Jaelzion 1,127 Posted November 2, 2020 Not Fibromyalgia, but I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. While my weight loss didn't completely eliminate my flare -ups, I do notice less inflammation in my body generally. And to the extent that the weight loss has lessened the pressure on my joints, that's been helpful. 1 GivinItMyALL reacted to this

It'd be a fantasy to believe it will go away (darn...) but I am happy to hear the inflammation in general and the pressure on joints eases up some. 1 Jaelzion reacted to this
AZhiker 2,253 Posted November 3, 2020 (edited) I went from basically living on Aleve daily to absolutely no joint pain at all! I already had one knee replacement before surgery, and the 2nd one was coming up soon, from the bone-on-bone pain. But now the joint space has opened up and doc says I may never need the 2nd knee replacement! There is no pain in my knees, hips or back now. Amazing, My inflammatory markers are down, as well. Interestingly, I used to get a butterfly rash on my face whenever I was under stress. Lupus test was always negative, but there was obviously some kind of autoimmune reaction happening and I never get that rash now, Edited November 3, 2020 by AZhiker 1 1 GivinItMyALL and Kayla Joy reacted to this
Tb613 44 Posted November 6, 2020 6 weeks post op (30pds down) and I've only taken pain killers 2x total for my joint pain. I used to take pain killers 3x a day and dr was considering cortisone shots.
