Eeesie 5 Posted October 29, 2020 My surgery was scheduled for 10/27. The day before, I was notified that my pre-op physical disclosed a left bundle branch defect in my heart and, though I had an echocardiogram that seemed encouraging, they wanted to cancel until I complete a cardiac stress test. I was devastated as I was all ready to go within about 18 hours. I can't complete my stress test until 11/9 and now COVID-19 threatens to cancel elective surgeries again. I'm feeling pretty defeated. Anyone else have similar postponement or cancelations? Did it work out for you or are you still on the path? Did you give up? 1 3 Bwa, NovaLuna, Arabesque and 1 other reacted to this
NovaLuna 710 Posted October 29, 2020 I'm sorry that your surgery was delayed. I hope that they're able to get the testing you need done as quickly as possible and hope they can get your surgery in if they do decide to cancel elective surgeries any time soon. I know it's hard, but try and remain positive and hopefully everything will work out! 1 Eeesie reacted to this
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted October 29, 2020 I can imagine having surgery postposed at the 11th hour is frustrating. But, it's certainly better that they caught this issue now than at some future moment that might have been problematic. Life has added a bunch of complications these days. We just need to remember that 2020 trying to screwing with everyone. We can't give up, we just have to keep moving forward. Nothing has changed about why you decided to do this. It's still a good decision. Don't let 2020 beat you. Good luck, Tek 1 Eeesie reacted to this

sdjohnson7 79 Posted October 30, 2020 My surgery was cancelled twice .. both times because my A1C was high. It took me 2 years to have the surgery. I finally had it 2/27/2020. It was worth the wait . 2 Lanie992 and Eeesie reacted to this
Lanie992 168 Posted October 30, 2020 (edited) Oh no! I am so sorry! Mine was NOT cancelled, but the Tuesday before my surgery which was scheduled for Thursday -- they told me I needed another EKG & stress test done and my surgery could possibly be postponed.. The next day (Wednesday)-- the day before my surgery... I had both done. Luckily I passed both and literally found out I got cleared for surgery for the next day... late in the afternoon on Wednesday. I had gotten my previous EKG & stress test more than 2 months prior -- not sure why it took them 2 days before the surgery to decide that mine needed to be done again?.... I am sorry that happened to you. Try to remember that it being done as a precaution & to ensure you're in good health before having major surgery. I am hopeful I can pass the tests and get back on track. I'm so sorry you had to go through that last minute stress... but glad it worked out well. It gives me a lot of hope. I know I'm lucky that they are being as safe as possible. It's for the best. I just wish I had known sooner. I've come this far, though. Maybe just a few more weeks. I looked at your location to see if we had the same surgeon -- to see if this is a common occurrence with him 😂, but we are in different parts of the country. Maybe it is due to CoVid that such disorganization is going on? It is frustrating. Sending good thoughts your way and hoping it gets resolved soon and you'll be on your way to your new life!
