Hint_switch 5 Posted October 26, 2020 One month and one day since surgery and what a journey it has been. I hope this helps anyone that is or will go through this surgery. I also hope to be helped. my surgery went great, the issue was afterwards when I could not swallow liquids or medications. I was extremely nauseated. The doctor has to perform a EDG to place botox into my lower abdomen/ esophagus to relax the muscle. I had a balloon procedure years ago but that was short acting. The Botox worked almost instantly I was able to take my medication and sip liquids, while still on iv fluids. I was hospitalized for a week. Once I returned home I was in bed for another week. Still no real Protein, maybe a few sips of Soup and was unable to drink Water without extreme pain. It fell as if I was being punched in my stomach. I met with my nutritionist and surgeon. Both suggested that I drink anything until I am able to tolerate water and to add an egg and eventually tuna. I was unable to brink my shakes because they were too sweet. Week three I began my Vitamins. That process has been okay. Getting tired of the after taste of the ADEK and Iron since they are both still chewable. I returned to work week 3. All desk work. My energy level was nonexistent. I could use the bathroom and tire washing my hands. My sleep was all over at most getting 3-4 hours at a time. Week four has been better. I woke up today feeling rested. I have added shrimp, chicken and some ground beef. I am still not a fan of shakes or sweets. TBH I did not have sugar in my home before this. I am down almost 35 lbs since surgery. wish me luck and don’t forget to be patient with yourself. 2 1 Doug E Mo, Charlene065 and Postop reacted to this
1000islandgirl 61 Posted October 26, 2020 Good Morning, It does sound like quite a journey already for you! I'm sorry that you have had such trouble with eating but I'm glad your Doctor is taking good care of you. I don't have any advice because I'm pre-op but I'm just wishing you a speedy recovery. I know it must be hard being at work with little or next to no energy. ~Hugs~ I hope things get much better very soon. 1 Hint_switch reacted to this

Circlesis 59 Posted October 26, 2020 I’m sorry your recovery was so rough! Congrats your losses so far and on getting through it. I recently revised from sleeve to DS myself. 1 Hint_switch reacted to this
