September Sleevers Update

Recommended Posts

How are the September Sleevers out there doing? I had mine on 9/28/2020 and am down 28lbs. I still have pain with every bite or drink I take and am still drinking a lot of Protein Shakes. One day at a time....

Sorry to hear about your pain. I had mine on 9/16 and I've had hardly any problems at all. I'm currently down 39lbs and am feeling pretty good.

I'm doing fine (surgery on 9/21). Down 19 since surgery and 56 total, so feeling good about my progress. I have been pushing a bit too fast with eating foods I probably shouldn't, but my body lets me know right away. If I stick to the plan, I feel OK, other than being tired a lot. I'm over halfway to my goal, so I'm anxious to get there.

I didn't do the puree, I did liquid then soft, a lot of scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. I'm still going shakes as well. I did notice when I did cream of wheat it thickened up and really hurt. I have to make it really runny.

I'm slowing down on the weight loss as well but from what I read on here that's normal.

Hope that you're all doing well today.

I'm scheduled for 11/6. I'm wondering when you say that it hurts to swallow, is it at the throat or as the food drops down and travels through the esophagus? Any details are appreciated.

My doctor has me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery, so that is why I'm at the weight loss I'm at. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, it will drive you crazy. Just know you are doing what's best for you and look at every pound loss as a win. You got this! [emoji3590]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
