gehibbs 0 Posted October 16, 2020 I have had revision from lapband to gastric bypass 6 weeks ago. I am trying to learn my new norm. One question though, what are some decent go to Snacks? I have gotten hungry a couple of times. Any ideas?
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) I'm always a nudge on this, but what does your plan say about Snacks? Especially at 6 weeks, all of our plans are different. For example, my plan does not include snacks at all. My Doc believed it was a bad habit to develop. Other plans insist on snacks. But, every plan I've seen than includes snacks has a concept of what they should be. So... what does your plan say? Once we know this, folks can come up with options that would work within your plan. Unless, of course, you've opted to go off plan, then... nevermind. Tek Edited October 16, 2020 by The Greater Fool speeling 1 ms.sss reacted to this
ChubRub 1,709 Posted October 16, 2020 My favorite snack is greek yogurt. So many different flavors! I usually have one for Breakfast, but if I don't have it for breakfast, it usually ends up being my 4pm snack to hold me over if I'm having a late dinner. 1 gehibbs reacted to this
2Bsmaller18 436 Posted October 16, 2020 I always had yogurt, cottage cheese or refried Beans. If it was an on the go snack then I had a Protein Shake or cheese and lunch meat or tuna. That early out from surgery my Snacks were aimed to get my Protein in. I would also put PB powder or sugar free Hershey Syrup in regular or high protein Fairlife milk. Danny Paul 761 Posted October 16, 2020 Two people who had years of success after WLS told me three things to avoid. 1- Fast Foods, 2- Processed Foods and 3- Snacks. I have been able to avoid everything but snacks. When the weight is flying off I could eat healthy snacks with no problem. Now three years post op the weight doesn't come off so easy. I have had to modify my food plan. If I do eat a snack I use it as a substitute for my lunch and I NEVER snack past 7PM. For me snacking was no problem as long as my body cooperated with me and allowed me to lose the weight easily. Once my body started to hold onto the extra weight snacking for me became a problem. ms.sss 15,714 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) My go-to snack was beef Jerky. I aways had a ziploc of the stuff in my purse everywhere i went (often i would make my own so i knew exactly what was in it...) oh, and i also carried around a tiny tupperware of Protein powder... Arabesque 7,414 Posted October 17, 2020 My team also said no snacking except yogurt or cheese. I had yogurt every day. Bonus was they added to my Protein intake. I also ate a small amount of fruit when I was closer to goal: watermelon, berries. My other occasional treat was a teaspoon of Peanut Butter. Maybe once or twice a month. 1 gehibbs reacted to this
gehibbs 0 Posted October 17, 2020 My plan doesn't really cover Snacks so I guess it isn't an option. I don't want to get into bad habits at all. Thanks for the input

I totally do the teaspoon of natural Peanut Butter too. 😋 I can stretch that tiny amount out to last 5 minutes or so. I only indulge once or twice a month as well. Berries are a favorite of mine for an occasional sweet treat (I have usually include as part of a meal). My plan includes Snacks, although I rarely have them. When I do, it is typically a serving of cheese or some sort of meat so I get Protein. 1 Arabesque reacted to this
