I had my bypass this past Thursday morning, the 5th, and it went well. My doc also repaired my hiatal hernia while he was in there. I spent one night in the hospital. I feel very fortunate because I had no nausea, and didn’t even need any pain meds until I got home Friday afternoon and started moving around more. When I strain at all, even getting up out of a chair, I get sharp pains on my left side where the incisions are. But I feel fine if I’m just sitting still or standing. I’m looking forward to tomorrow because I’ll be able to add a few more foods. After two weeks of only Jello, popsicles and broth, that yogurt is going to taste awfully good!

Well shoot! Home one day & back in hospital 3:30 this morning. My port was bleeding heavily & we couldn't stop it. Nurses & a Dr. said it happens infrequently. What fun! Hope to be out tomorrow. Hopefully won't start again!

How are you doing???? image.png.838eceb3a9795d885c133701b67cb53a.png

I’m up tomorrow and all I can think is by this time next week I can eat soup...not broth, not Jello, but something that tastes good! Glad to hear you are doing well.

Sorry that happened but why do you have a port? My uncle had one for chemo.

I misspoke- pain killers brain...It's the drain that was leaking.

Much better now. I misspoke @ a port. It was my drain. It's a Rose (something) drain. It was crazy how much came out- glad Hubs insisted on bringing me in rather than tough it out.😺

I’m glad you are okay. I’m up tomorrow and I’m starting to get a little freaked out today.

No, tomorrow. I’m trying to keep it together and might be due to sleep deprivation, food deprivation, caffeine deprivation, and election stress. Plus I live alone and although I have great support i live an hour from the hospital.

You will be great. You're prepared & ready to GO!!! I believe it would be most unusual to not be at least a little nervous!🤗🙏

My cats have been extra needy today and my rag doll was so mad I wouldn’t play with her every minute of the day.

She is Adorable!! She knows something's up. My NFC was going a bit nuts last night when I was having leak issues. Hard to keep him away. And he's not generally a lap cat. 😻

Gracelynn is almost never needy. She is ridiculously aloof. My youngest cat has been following me around all day...like stalker cat...she is currently sleeping on my overnight bag and god forbid I move her to actually pack my stuff. 🙄

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
