Hello everyone!

I am so new, I have not even began the process, well, actually I kinda have. I know which Dr. I want to go to. I will have my new insurance in January and have my Dr. appt on 1/3/08!

My friend just had her surgery on Friday, 11/30, so I will know kinda what to expect....although everyone is different!

I look forward to meeting new people and being apart of the lapband society!:bounce:

Wow! How did your appt go? You are well on your way! I am so excited for you!

thanks! My appts were great.

The dietician did not have me go on a liquid diet or any diet as a matter of fact. She just recommended I concentrate on eating my 3 meals per day and 2 Snacks. She wants me to play around with recipes and try working on getting in amounts of Protein per day such as trying Protein shakes... which has been good because I was sorta able to kick that little devil talk on the last meal syndrome I was developing.

The preop appts went well. I was admitted as a 1 day inpatient and was able to do all my procedures yesterday. So grateful it was done that way...I was in at 7am and out by noon.

I was not even starving altought I had not eaten all day. That chalky stuff for the upper GI was nasty. but bearable.

I just got a call from the surgeon office and they are compiling everything, she needs two things and will be calling me when she submitts to the insurance. Now I am so nervous, anxious and excited I can scream!!!!AAHAHAHAHAH

She even congratulated me twice for doing the whole process in less than 1 month. She is hoping the insurance is just as quick as I was about it. And said might even get me in for surgery before the NEW YEAR....ok...what...did I hear right....ammm....maybe I want to leave it for January....I don't know...but I'll cross that bridge when I get there for now I am leaving it as I had mentally planned middle of January of 2008.

yeah...me!:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Very good! Well, maybe if the insurance is quick to respond, maybe do it EARLY part of January if you don't want to do it at the end of the year!

I got my new insurance card in today! I am excited. Although I am not covered until 1/1/08! I have my first appt. 1/3/08 at 8:15 am!!! I am not wasting any time!

I wish you all the best!

That's great! I am so looking forward to January that I can't stand it! I would LIKE to have my surgery beginning of February as that is when I have a week off, but we'll see!

When my friend had her surgery, (she has the same insurance), they gave her the approval in about 15 minutes! I told her that it was like applying for a credit card for her! haha

With what I have read, when you have lost some weight, the sleep apnea will not be a problem! YEAH!!!

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
