Recommended Posts

Im new here...I'm 4 weeks post op VSG.Still on the soft food stage. My doc told me i should be consuming 5 small portion meals a day.Can anybody tell me how much time to give myself before having each meal? I should've asked. The only option they gave me was to schedule an appt with my nut. But, that appt is still 2 weeks away.

Welcome! 😊

I'm not sure what you mean by how much time to give yourself before the meal?

Also, does your nut have an email where you can contact them? I sent mine an email with several questions, and she answered them all in a couple hours. I do hope you have that option as well.

Let me rephrase. How long/hours in between meals should i give myself before consuming another meal. Yes. I believe i should try and email my nut. Im still trying to get into the routine of things! Having had this procedure is quite the life changing experience and super time consuming. I'm trying not to overwhelm myself too much thinking about it...I work 12 hour night shifts so im trying to do some meal prepping and stuff.

Yes, trying to schedule meals, Water and Vitamins is like another full time job. I was told to allow at least 3 hrs between meals.

Here are my instructions...they may differ from your doctor's instructions...but the boot camp page does give timing for meals/shakes. Good luck!

I'm about 2.5 weeks post-op and also on the soft diet. Right now I have to wait at least an hour after I eat food before I can drink anything. It makes it challenging to get all the meals they want and the fluids in each day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
