ChubRub 1,709 Posted October 9, 2020 Refried Beans? You will only be able to eat a couple teaspoons anyway, so maybe just share with someone? 2 New Me, New Mind and Neller reacted to this
BigSue 1,394 Posted October 9, 2020 3 weeks is a little early for restaurant food, but Beans (refried beans or black beans) would probably be ok, and maybe shredded chicken, and enchilada sauce. One of my favorite soft foods meals is refried beans topped with shredded chicken and enchilada sauce, and cheese (I used Laughing Cow cheese, but a little real cheese should be ok). I think most Mexican restaurants would be willing to make you a plate with beans, chicken, enchilada sauce, and cheese if you ask for it. And you will have a lot of leftovers. 3 Aunt Fin, Neller and New Me, New Mind reacted to this
Circlesis 59 Posted October 9, 2020 These are good suggestions, also if you wish to avoid lard you can go with a bowl of charro bean Soup or some places have chicken tortilla soup. You will fill up very fast so just be mentally prepared. Enjoy! 2 Neller and sillykitty reacted to this
WishMeSmaller 1,274 Posted October 9, 2020 I ordered a side of refried Beans from a Mexican restaurant about two weeks out. It was 2-3 meals for me. 3 New Me, New Mind, sillykitty and Neller reacted to this
ms.sss 15,725 Posted October 10, 2020 how about the insides of a taco? or maybe the toppings off some nachos? (would be some greens, ground meat, cheese and sauce)..or maybe a smooth gazpacho? at 3 weeks, you *likely* will not be able to eat much, it may be easier to just bring a Protein Shake with you and enjoy the company. good luck! ❤️ 3 Neller, JoanneLaRusch and Hellie1028 reacted to this
AZhiker 2,253 Posted October 10, 2020 refried Beans and maybe a Soup? Refried beans were a real "go to" for me early on. Tasty, full of Protein, and easy to handle. 3 WishMeSmaller, New Me, New Mind and Neller reacted to this
Neller 114 Posted October 10, 2020 Why does the earth ([emoji288]) emoji show up when some asks about food? It's not in the actual post, just in the lead to the thread? kellym1220 474 Posted October 10, 2020 My first Mexican food, after refried Beans in the soft food stage, was shrimp fajitas. It was three meals, and I only ate the shrimp and the refried beans. But that was at 6 weeks, per my plan. Good luck! FYI, you want to be VERY careful if you are trying something new...I had an issue with eggs at about three weeks (it was eggs swirled into chicken broth, a la egg drop soup) and I spent the next few hours in the bathroom! That would have been horrible in a restaurant! 1 New Me, New Mind reacted to this

sillykitty 10,776 Posted October 11, 2020 Agree with the refried Beans recommendations. I also had no issue handling spicy foods. One of my first soft meals was refried beans with cheese & hot sauce 1 WishMeSmaller reacted to this
tarotcardreader 196 Posted October 20, 2020 On 10/9/2020 at 4:54 AM, Amanda Baker said: What are safe foods at Mexican restaurants? 3 week post op I like to drain a can of tortilla Soup with a strainer and dab some sour cream on top. In softs i order the Protein power bowl and customize it with whatever Proteins my pouch is tolerating that hour. How great it is that there is protein in cheese. I didnt start eating these things until 6weeks post op because my programs dietician suggested laying off spices a bit til its healed some. 1 JoanneLaRusch reacted to this
