Hello. I had the gastric sleeve in 2014. I started having severe acid reflux to the point I was waking up choking in my sleep. Found out my stomach was twisted. I had the gastric bypass Nov 2019 to correct the problem. After a few months I couldn't keep any food down and found out I had a stricture. Tried the endoscopy to try to open it up but the scar tissue was too bad. Having surgery tomorrow to see if he can remove the scar tissue. If not, then he will have to reroute my intestines to another part of my stomach. I'm so disappointed in all that has happened and scared because of all the surgery being done to my stomach. I keep having this nightmare of walking around with a colostomy bag because of damage. I'm going to stay positive but wanted to know if anyone had to have surgery again after a stricture?

haven't heard this yet (and I've been on this site for several years) - usually they're able to easily open it up via endoscopy. Sorry this is happening to you!

I had the endoscopy 5 times and it didn't help. I was hoping it would because I didn't want to go back in for surgery.

I had my revision on Tuesday I was hoping he could remove this scar tissue but he said it was too much so they had to reroute my intestines to another part of my stomach. He couldn't guarantee me this scar tissue wouldn't build up again in the new spot but I'm going to take it day by day.

I had RNY July 1st 2020 and by the first of September i was completely closed up. They did another surgery on 09/21/2020 to open it back up. I went in on 10/19/2020 for an endoscopy and they found out I am closing up again. I feel your pain this sucks. I don't know what they are going to do now. My opening from my stomach to my intestines is less that 3mm and they doc said it should be at least 30mm.

I am so sorry you're going through this and experiencing the pain that I'm going through. I've been having some severe pain since the revision on October 6th. I'm going to a follow up appointment today so I'm going to see what they say . I hope you don't have to go back into surgery again... it all becomes a little discouraging. You go in to have surgery to fix one problem and come out having numerous. Good luck with everything and please keep me posted. ❤️

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
