I think that would be a question for your nutritionist. That being said, I eat turkey bacon on occasion but turkey sausage still has a lot of fat in it. I don’t eat hot dogs so I have no advice on that at all.

If you simply must eat bacon, sausage or hot dogs, the lean varieties are better that the normal varieties.

But, as to whether they suit your plan, you must consult your plan, and if it's not there, the plan's author.

Good luck,

Tek

The weight loss period is perfect for changing old food habits, trying new things & looking for better, healthier options. There are lots of unprocessed lean meat, & seafood or plant-based Protein options available you could try.

That saying, I lost the taste for a lot of things in the first four or so months but I found I could eat thin pork sausages which I bought from my local butcher who’s very good. He makes them using real meat & little else. Mass produced sausages tend to be made from the fatty off cuts, gristle, lots of meal, preservatives, artificial flavours, nitrates, etc.

I’d eat 1/2 sausage as one of my lunch options maybe twice a week. Cooked a couple of sausages at a time in dry in a non stick pan, cut them in half & froze the individual portions. Easy. My dietician was okay with me including them in my diet because they were freshly made by a butcher. See what your nutritionalist says.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
