AngelSoftSnow 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Hi Everyone - I'm having my surgery on December 17th. I'm scared! But I know I'll be okay. What did you all purchase for after surgery, when it comes to food and liquids. I like the slim fast drinks. Will that be enough to pass as a Protein Drink? Any ideas on foods would be great. Thanks! snagrammy 0 Posted December 3, 2007 I too bought the slim-fast high Protein shakes. I also have some of the little packets of special K flavoring to add to Water. I figure every little bit of Protein should help. I plan to stop at GNC tomorrow to see what they have to offer and I am going thru Barix, so they have their own drinks (although I'm sure they will be more expensive). I'm being banded on 12/21, so I'm right behind you! Good luck.
AngelSoftSnow 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Are you nervous? I get nervous when I think about it, so I try not too.
snagrammy 0 Posted December 3, 2007 I worried that I'm not nervous! It's such a big step, but a relatively uncomplicated surgery. I was told less than an hour. I think my tubal took longer!! Maybe when I go in for PATs on Wednesday, reality will hit! Where are you going for surgery?? Oh yeah....I just checked and the Protein whey powder I bought at Walmart has 46 grams of Protein in 2 scoops!......NOT BAD! Well.....keep in touch and we will follow each other into "slimness" Donna :whoo:
AngelSoftSnow 0 Posted December 4, 2007 I'm from Massachusetts. I having surgery at Brigham's and Women's Hospital in Boston with Dr. Lautz. Where are you having your surgery?
snagrammy 0 Posted December 4, 2007 I'm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (Amish Country), but am going to the Barix Clinic just outside Philadelphia. It's about 1 1/2 hours without traffic. I have to be there at 7 tomorrow morning so that should be fun!!! Have a good day!!!
MissSac 0 Posted December 4, 2007 My surgery date is December 17th as well. Make sure you jump over to the monthly support groups and join the Merrry Bandsters. Good luck to you both!
dan.sm 0 Posted December 4, 2007 I am getting banded on Dec. 17 as well at Mass General Hospital with Dr. Hutter. I haven't done the shopping yet but I am kinda excited to do this.
Ellisa 6 Posted December 4, 2007 I like Slim Fast Lo Carb. Since I have to be on liquids for two weeks prior (December 18th) I started that today. But I also have unflavored whey Protein that I got from GNC 1 scoop around 22 grams. I don't notice an off flavor with it. I added it to my OJ this morning with yogurt. Melted dream sickle? I am also using SF pudding and Jello. Tomato juice, add whey powder, basil and sweetner for "soup."
jewelee 0 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm 12/17 too! I've been really excited but right now I'm up way past my bedtime freaking out about it.
DonHoll1 0 Posted December 5, 2007 Welcome to all the new people. Congrats on your dates. You might want to have some chicken and beef broth in the house for when you get home. Donna
AngelSoftSnow 0 Posted December 5, 2007 If I think about it, I get all nervous, so I try not to think about it. I see the surgeon on thursday to talk about the surgery and it's my chance to ask more questions. I'm excited but I'm scared too.
