support group to make

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this site and would really like to start a meeting session at my home maybe a couple times a week depending on how the turnout is. We would get together and support each other and discuss whatever we need to let out about any troubles difficulties or even good things that maybe helpful to each other. if people are interested and in the Akron area please let me know so we can put something together whenever would be best for everyone. thank you, M0-Sleeve

I am not sure I understand your idea. You want to have strangers, and people that are pre and post-op to your home during a pandemic and right before flu season? I’m not trying to be snarky, I am baffled by this idea and want to make the suggestion that you try a Zoom support group until things are safer. Best of luck! Be safe.

Perhaps consider creating an advertisement for this and pass it along through the Bariatric center you went through

Good Luck ♥️

Welcome to the forums.

I have to agree with Zom B. This is not the time for such things.

When it is time, this is probably not the best venue as we have members from around the world. The number of us in or near Akron my not be as large as one might imagine.

Remember, we are strangers on the interwebs. We may not be who we seem to be. You want to invite strangers into your home.

Another thought is most surgeons have their own support groups. There must be several in Akron. If you're surgeon wasn't in Akron, go talk to a local surgeon and see if you can join one of their groups. If you have a problem with your surgeon in Akron, go to a different surgeon and explain the situation, and they'll likely allow you to join their group.

Whatever you do, be very careful.

Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
