What are you doing for exercise and how often?

Recommended Posts

I've always had a gym membership, but I have hired a trainer and I am doing cardio and weights four times a week. What are the rest of you doing?

By the way, my main motivation (and the reason I got the surgery WHEN I did) is because I will be in a wedding early next year and I need to look like a normal sized bridesmaid.

Running four or five times a week for about 40 minutes. I do the occasional spin class or swim laps. Dont have time for much else.

I had a good routine of circuit training going too, must get back to it. I do notice the difference in my body when I'm doing regular strength training.

I'm walking for an hour around 5 times/week. It's actually pretty tough - a lot of hilly terrain. And I do the recumbent (?) bike around 5 times a week for an hour too.

I'm doing the T-Tapp basic workout (15 mins) on my days off...which was 3 days off this last week. Then I'm just doing all my walking at work. As soon as things calm down a little, I plan to get into running and would like to do that at least 5 times a week.

Elle - I did a 1-mile walk 2 days after my surgery and continued with the walking before I went back to work. Then I did a real "workout" with T-Tapp this past Monday, which was 11 days post-op. None of it has been too bad. I'm kind of antsy to get moving, actually! Trying to take it easy just because I know I'm still healing.

I was supposed to wait four weeks before I exercised so I just started yesterday. I'm using my recumbent exercise bike at first and then I'll graduate to my elliptical and/or home gym for strength training. Eventually, I'd like to start riding my bike again but I live in a pretty hilly area so it will take more muscle and stamina than I have now.

I've done a couple of walks so far but need to get back into regular walking. Also I will go back to aqua aerobics in the new year.

I joined curves two weeks ago and have been going three to four times a week. I really like it! I've been burning between 350-400 calories in just 30 minutes!! I am able to do this at lunch time and that is about the only time I have for exercise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
