GivinItMyALL 169 Posted September 24, 2020 I'm new to the forums, but have been reading for a while. So hello! [emoji4] I'm sitting in the waiting room of my surgeon's office, getting ready to chat with him before scheduling. I'm super excited, and ready to get going. Already did my psych eval (I'm sane! Go figure... [emoji1]) and spoke to the dietician. Looking forward to my journey. Hoping I don't end up hating the few foods I currently like... The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted September 24, 2020 Welcome to the forums. Just a caution, but there are some real jerks around here :cough:The Greater Fool:cough: so when it comes to a choice of doing what we say or what you Doc says, your Doc wins. Period. Remember that the first 6 weeks post-op may be difficult. You may not be able to eat enough. Hang in there and work your plan. Learn. Do better. Exciting and interesting times ahead. Enjoy it no matter how miserable you are Good luck Tek 2 1 1 STLoser, GivinItMyALL, tarotcardreader and 1 other reacted to this

Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app Fingers crossed on a surgery date for you! As far as hating foods go, it's a crap shoot in terms of how or whether one's taste buds change after surgery, but sometimes it works out for the best. I stole one of my boyfriend's tater tots a couple of weeks ago as the smell was killing me. Ended up spitting it out because it just didn't taste good. So...one less temptation to worry about! And...you'll find a lot of great ideas from folks here about healthy substitutions for foods so that you'll still be able to enjoy many of the same things as before, just with some healthy tweaks to them. My favorite find pre-op was a recipe for pizza that uses ground/minced chicken breast for the crust. It's Protein packed, delicious, and very easy to make! You're going to do great! 1 GivinItMyALL reacted to this

GivinItMyALL 169 Posted September 24, 2020 Just a word of the wise, there isn't anybody that can tell you what do to, not on this forum, and not the doctor, the choice has to be yours. And the doc does not always win, there are some bad bad stuff around in the doctor's lounge even though they have got a diploma and lab exercises. You are allowed to be critical of your doctor and to ask questions and to find your own path after surgery. The surgeon seems like a great person. Very easygoing, asks if I have any questions or concerns, funny... I like him. I don't see any problems, thankfully (and I can be extremely critical of doctors, so this is a good thing!) 3 MsMocie, Pandemonium and tarotcardreader reacted to this

My post was due out of being annoyed by a post longer up though. I admit that. I don't think we should be indoctrinated that 1 person has all powers and all the answers because that person has a medical lisens. I read the same books as the med students. I can nail almost every doctor to the wall, so he or she has to exude confidence and a logic behind their treatment plans. Reading of a text book will not due. The reverse is also true that we should not assume someone who has only read yet not practiced medicine knows how to practice medicine. Nor should we really be trying to nail doctors to walls because it doesnt really serve purpose. The best approach for the patient is collaborative. There are some shitty doctors out there but there are also some shitty patients lol 1 GivinItMyALL reacted to this
