So I thought I had really found something great when I came across the Pro Care health Sadi/ DS multi with Iron and ADEK. . Then I started googling and the 60mg of Iron in them is toxic and potentially fatal for normal anatomy. I realize we won’t absorb as much of some Vitamins but since we dont know exactly the degree of malabsorbtion would I be better to start with a little lower iron like 45mg and up it if my labs are low?

I can't take any oral iron, so I'm not sure, really. I can't imagine a reputable company like them would put a fatal amount of iron in their product, as it would be very bad for business. 🤣 I just get iron infusions when my iron gets low, but it is ideal to take it in pill form if you can absorb it... You could try a few days a week and then have your levels checked to see if they are responding to the dosage. It is not usually a bad thing to start slow and ramp up if you aren't getting your levels up. And be sure to talk to your surgeon about it, as they can help guide you to what is a safe dose and do labwork regularly to be sure you aren't getting too much. ❤️

Omg, that’s hilarious. I never really thought about it that way, Thank you!! Sometimes I get a little over concerned about things. I have to teeter the fine line between being too lax and worrying excessively which is hard to do with an anxiety disorder. I do plan to take both bottles with me on surgery day and ask him if I actually see him and not the PA before I leave. If not I will ask him eventually. They don’t make that higher iron one in chewable anyways so I have at least a month post surgery before I need to decide, I just wanted to get the opinions of the people who actually lived it. Does the oral iron just make you sick or not absorb or what? Is it related to surgery or something else?

@california guy,

Thank you for response. I am very excited, just nervous (as is normal)! Congrats on your weight loss!

@Ms. Mocie,

I honestly don't know other than the modified version is reportedly less invasive and easier? I am hoping it's easier recovery wise as well.

My recovery from the surgery was really easy. I was a sleep patient for seven years and then I converted to the Sadie. They did repair two hernia while they were in there and those killed me for weeks on end, but the incisions for the conversion in those areas, I had no pain whatsoever. In fact, I didn’t even feel like I had a surgery because being a veteran sleeve patient The amount of food I could eat did not change after the conversion.

For me the recovery was a great deal worse with the SADI than the sleeve but it was just gas. I think the gas thing is hit or miss and some of us are just unlucky. With my sleeve I was up walking in recovery and home the next day off pain meds and having to be reminded that I just had surgery and to take it easy. After SADI I was literally crying, begging the nurse for more pain meds after five days of not passing gas. It was awful until one morning I passed fade like 5 or 6 times and with each one I felt more and more relief. I honestly don’t think that pain medication does anything to touch the gas pain and if you are unlucky and get it stuck somewhere bad you just gotta deal with it unfortunately. My revision was robotic assist and the sleeve was not. That’s the only real difference. Same surgeon. Same incisions. Similar starting weight. But night and day difference in pain. I did get my gallbladder out with the revision but it was the gas pain that was the issue. After that it was about the same.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
