want_so_bad 0 Posted December 5, 2007 hhhhmmmmm, not really... can you non-believers, "anti-pagans", "bigger percentage" of the world keep your anti-celebration spirit and opinions about Christmas private? I guess not, so why should we? AMEN! and Merry Christmas!
Titslereaux 1 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm sorry for offending some of you-I was trying to point out that your beliefs are like pollution to the rest of us. I voted that smoking in restaurants should be banned so the rest of the world wasn't forced to succomb to what other people enjoyed, but nobody minds cramming 2 months of BS in my face every years, and there's no avoiding it! And then in January comes the new post-Christmas thread about how everyone is so discouraged about all the weight gain, getting back on track and credit card debt. God bless. pippinje 0 Posted December 6, 2007 ok, ok, but I do need an excuse to eat Cookies and drink egg nog.....:kiss Obviously I don't or I wouldn't be fat LOL
pippinje 0 Posted December 6, 2007 Well yeah, there is always the obvious! All kidding aside, people really need to take this to heart. Why wait for a holiday to spend quality time. Hubby and I don't do holidays, never did. Each day was treated well for a reason. Holidays were not necessary. Thanks Wasa....ya'll speak more pretty than me. pippinje 0 Posted December 6, 2007 Wow, I guess I wasn't thinking in the true Christmas spirit until I learned that this is a time for reflecting on family. Okay, hmmm.. Daddy wants another truckload of Budweiser, that's easy, but I wonder what Mommy wants, maybe a new straight jacket or another hose to beat children with? Maybe if I believe hard enough, Santa will bring me some magic Beans to take away the lifetime of pain my loving family gave me. Maybe my rotten criminal siblings will fall into a bucket of figgy pudding. Maybe the teachers who abused me because I came from a broken, abusive family will appear at my doorstep and give back the youth and dignity they stole, too!And the really happy part about all these delicious memories is that my life was easy compared to many, like the little girl who was raped by drunk uncle on Christmas or all the orphans and homeless teens on the streets. It took a couple decades for me to forgive and find peace within myself and even have a beer with Dear Ol Dad, but then along comes Christmas (every October) to remind millions of us about how painful and cruel life often is and of the family we never had. It helps us wonder what it must be like to have a mother's love, a sister's friendship, or a father's strong hand to guide us. Selfish? Selfish is shoving all the happy family crap into the face of countless humans that are clueless to what Christmas means to the privilege. Christmas is a time to reflect back on sitting alone on the curb watching other kids ride shiny new bikes and play with new Barbies while wondering what all those amazing smells were coming out of homes, and which house I might be able to steal a tortilla from. By no means am I looking for sympathy, either. Hard childhoods turn out some pretty amazing, independent people. I cherish the friendships I have and don't need a calendar to buy them presents. Life rocks, but "Merry Christmas" honestly makes me want to puke. Tra la la la la.... la la la Lahhhhh! As far as keeping our opinions to ourselves, this is a public forum open to all comments about Christmas. Once again, why not Celebrate a little more quietly to keep December 25 suicide rates a little lower this year? "Oh my, we agree on this one." Is this one of those "Christmas Miracles?" Bitter much???
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted December 6, 2007 Bitter much??? HA! Ya think? Verrry anti-Mexico too. We are all gonna get nabbed by the Mexican officials, beaten, robbed, and I'm shocked any of us made it home. Oh, and our doctors will never return our phone calls. I guess it is because they are not white, US born Americans. We all know US docs return calls immediately. :cry

LovingWhatIs 0 Posted December 6, 2007 When I become critical of people who are critical, I notice that we have everything in common. If it is so easy, can I do it? When I am negative about people being negative, I notice that we have everything in common. If it is so easy, Can I do It? This awareness that we are the same joins me in love with all of you, instead of separating me from you. And I find that I don't need to eat addictively when everyone is my brother or sister. Peace begins with me. Can I do that?

Nope....no quiet celebration....this is a free country and as open as this forum where we could all Celebrate whatever people want, the same way people in this forum can talk all they want about Christmas, it goes both ways.... I'm sorry about your hard life, mine wasn't all that great either.... I don't have enough time to tell you all about me, it would take days, maybe weeks... but I still try to stay positive, specially for my kids... and note that I say "try" I don't always accomplish it.... but I find my responsability to at least try and to shake the bitterness, even when is valid....because believe me, many times it's very valid.... but I find that in my case it's not worth to live that way.... I just try to concentrate on the positive, I hope you can do the same and that it would help, the same way it has helped me, at least somewhat... I personally do better this way... but I do understand that everyone is different..:cry

ELENATION 0 Posted December 6, 2007 Elena, that was such a nice post. Aren't we all just doing our best... LOVE! Thank you and that's exactly the truth.... we are all doing the best we can.... trying and trying! I'm not priviledged, didn't grow up with a priviledged family, never have been.... and I don't think that Christmas is for the priviledge... or any celebration under other religions for that matter.... these are celebrations for what they mean to each person and celebrations of the good that we have in our lives, even if it's not a lot... Hey, if you are alive, and able to come to the forum and post here, those are already reason to be grateful and Celebrate, it means you are still living, you have a computer at home or at work, you may have a job... see... we could be doing worst.... so let's concentrate on doing the best we can like you said! Merry Christmas! Elena
