Hi. I had my sleeve done on September 5th and have followed the post open diet perfectly. My average calorie intake is around 600 calories per day with high Protein low carb.

According to my bathroom scales I have not lost a single kg. I swear I can see that my face in particular is thinner and my clothes are looser.

Am I being impatient or should I have lost some weight by now?

If you are indeed doing your plan then the scale is lying to you.

You have evidence you are succeeding, don't let the scale screw it up or take it away.

I think it's time to treat yourself to a new scale!! It's also possible that you are still retaining IV fluids, but I think it's the scale!

Congrats on having your surgery.

Frustratingly, sometimes it’s not about the number on the scales. Did you take any body measurements? You may see changes with those measurements when you see little or nothing on the scales. Fluid retention & Constipation will affect your scale weight too.

Do you keep your scales in the same place when you weigh yourself? An uneven floor surface can result in erratic numbers on the scale. New batteries will give more accurate results too.

Good luck.

I’ll take the ‘kids’ comment thanks as I’m 55 - lol. Mind you my scale does do all these fancy things but I just use it to weigh myself. 😁

If you are working out hard, you may be adding muscle and this could be what your scale is telling you.

I had my Gastric Bypass on September 1st...at my first post-op appointment (Sept 10th) I hadn’t lose anything. Dr told me it takes a little bit to get all that extra Fluid out of your system. As of today my scale is showing 20lbs down..but I will wait until my next appt on Oct 5th for an official verdict...I don’t trust my scale lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
