Day 1: clear liquids (and peanut butter!)

Recommended Posts

So my lil reset started out really well. I did good all day long, stuck to Clear Liquids all day. I was really missing my Protein coffee drink this morning big time, but I got thru! I did just eat a lil tablespoon of Peanut Butter though. I gave in, but I don't feel like a failure. Today was tough, and I realize that eating a scoop of peanut butter doesn't mean I've totally fallen off the wagon and I'll eat donuts and cakes and Cookies all day tomorrow. It'll be an easier day actually with full liquids. The plan I'm following allows for thinned out oatmeal and noodle Soup. I have more options, and I won't feel deprived like I felt today. Proud even if I wasn't perfect. Forever a work in progress.

And I'm actually looking forward to getting back into working out. When I win the lottery, I'm buying one of those super cool Tonal contraptions.

Peanut Butter is 90 calories a tablespoon, so unless you ate a lot more than that, you're good. Plus the fat in it keeps you satiated. I do try to incorporate some fats because they keep me satisfied for quite awhile.

I started a "reset" yesterday too with my boyfriend. Pretty much mimicking my pre-op diet... nothing but Protein Shakes and raw non-starchy veg. Planning on doing this for 2 weeks, pre-op I had to do 3, so I'm hopeful! :)

Cat, you’re right - I felt satisfied and helped with the sweet craving also. I definitely didn’t feel guilty about it. Anastasia, this is what I keep telling myself too - if I could do it for a week pre-op, I can absolutely follow this plan, which allows for even more than what I was allowed that week before. And you did TWO weeks pre-op?? I don’t know how, but be proud!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
