GottaLearnToSlowDown 2 Posted September 6, 2021 I'll tell you what, when I lost weight pre-op it was because I ate 6 times a day, small meals and healthy Snacks, and worked out. It melted off. Now I'm post op and eating 6 times a day, sometimes 7. Still early days for me but I appear to be losing so I mean, eating more frequently ESPECIALLY if your body demands it seems like the right thing to do. As long as you keep it healthy and meet Protein goals, you shouldn't ever have to force yourself to feel hunger to get change. Fasting is not great for post-op people. 1 Tomo reacted to this
Bulabula 58 Posted September 7, 2021 I’m 77 days out from my surgery date and have lost 59lbs. I eat about 700-1000 calories a day. Workout 4-5 days/week (HIIT, rowing, walking, or weights). I eat about 5 small meals a day. Drink 1-2 Protein Water (20g protien) because I can’t stomach Protein Shakes. I was eating only 600-700 calories and my nutritionist said to up it to 1000 since I workout. Vitamins, water, etc. I would be starving too if I only ate 3 times a day. I can barely eat a quarter of a tuna sandwich at one meal. Maybe I can max out if I eat 3 chicken wings, two celery sticks, and two cucumber sticks. A snack for me may be a laughing cow cheese wedge and a few thin slices of apple or a small green smoothie (spinach, fairlife milk, peach, celery, beet powder, ginger, banana, hemp, and ice). 1 Tomo reacted to this

I’m post 23yrsRNYGBP maintaining at 115lbs and 170lbs weight loss… check your high quality Protein intake guidelines Well congrats to you on your weight loss and maintenance! According to my diet plan from my dr and nutritionist, I can have certain crackers and certain breads toasted. I love a good quarter of a tuna “sandwich” on a weekend. And skinless chicken wings in the air fryer, are also approved for me. 3 skinless wings have 19g Protein and 5g fat according to my app I use for tracking. It’s not pure fat. It may have higher fat content than other Proteins, but it’s not a forbidden item for my plan. I eat mostly halibut, salmon, and tuna which my husband catches in Hawaii or Alaska on his annual fishing trips. I’m well aware of high proteins, the amount of calories I burn working out, and what’s on my plan. If I want to have something on my approved list, then what’s the problem? 3 sillykitty, Tomo and Speschalk reacted to this
Dave In Houston 199 Posted September 11, 2021 I'm eating 5 times a day. My Breakfast and evening snack are a Premier Protein drink. Two of these provide 60 g of Protein. lunch is almost always one fried egg, one strip of bacon, and half an English muffin. My afternoon snack is a half cup of pineapple and a half cup of low-fat cottage cheese. This has turned out to be my very favorite thing to eat. dinner is about 8 ounces of food, divided between protein, vegetables, and carbs. If I feel full, I will quit eating before I finish 8 ounces. MY surgery was 3.5 months ago. I've lost 58 pounds, so it seems to be working for me. I'm pleased with the progress. 2 Speschalk and Tomo reacted to this

Wheat bread and Pasta were suggested by my surgeon and dietician to prevent gallstones due to its binding properties to food cholesterol in the gut and general health. I eat 5-6 small meals a day too but I am early on, going on 2nd month after a revision from sleeve to RNY, and eat 1/2 cup a meal. I try to eat a balanced meal of all 5 food groups. Good thread to follow to see how others are handling their diet. Edited September 11, 2021 by Tomo typos
