What do you do when food sits in your chest after you eat? Did you wait for it to go down? Will it go down? It makes me panic and I end up making myself throw up. I'm a month out. Will this continue to happen or will eventually food go down smoothly like its normally suppose to.

OK. Thanks! I'll try that next time.

I think the warmth relaxes the stomach and the esophagus. That’s what it feels like to me.

I wait for it to go down and it eventually does. The wait is not pleasant, though. What are you eating when this happens? You might be eating something that is too dense or dry. Are you chewing really thoroughly before you swallow? Are you taking small bites?

I did feel better once I drank something but I'll have to try the warm tea. I panic when it gets stuck. I shouldn't get into the habit of throwing things up. I need to be patient.

What foods are you cleared to eat at one month out?

Make sure you chew your food really well and wait between bites before taking another. Also when you have pain and something feels stuck, don't give in to the temptation of drinking Water to get it to go down. Get up and walk, just walk and walk and that'll help your system move it down easier and a little faster to help with the pain.

Another tip is to take your time eating, and stop eating the second you feel restriction. Don't swallow another bite. I have even gone so far as to spit out food that was already in my mouth b/c I felt restriction. It's that extra bite of food that tends to cause the pain (at least for me).

I’ve thrown up a few times but now that I tried sipping tea I don’t get into that panic state where I feel I have to get it out right away.

I'm eating chicken but it was not tough. I'm taking small bites but maybe I'm not chewing thoroughly enough. I just had some meatballs and they went down. Maybe its the chicken. I've tried several times but could only manage to get it down a couple of times. How long does it take for it to go down for you? How far out are you from your surgery.

That's good. I need to try to not panic. How far along are you from your surgery?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
