When I tell you I have so Many mixed feelings It would be an understatement, So happy and grateful to have finally had my surgery But post op is not a joke there are a lot of hurdles you have to going over and I'm taking it slow drinking Water walking and pain management are some of the few things I hope soon all I'm gonna remember is good stuff because right now it's really hard. Welcome to the post-op side! Hang in there... My first few days after surgery were miserable (including intense regret when I first woke up), but I'm 7 weeks out and it all seems like a distant memory now.

The first week, I really regretted the surgery and kept asking why I did this to myself. I cried a lot. I felt overwhelmed. I'm happy to report that the first couple weeks were the hardest, and after that it got better. I'm 7 weeks out and I feel great now! I'm so happy I got my surgery!!

Thank you for sharing this! I am Day 2 of post op and am MISERABLE. So much pain it’s hard to get comfortable. Been walking a lot which helps to move gas but I find breathing deeply very painful. Really looking forward to getting through this week.

I came out of anesthesia at about 1:30PM the day of my surgery. That afternoon, night and following day were absolutely dismal. I think I maybe slept an hour that first night. The pain and discomfort were overwhelming. I had been fighting severe Constipation the last 2 days before surgery, and I believe that exacerbated everything.

I went home the afternoon following surgery, and the first several days everything was tentative and ginger. However, it steadily improved and by day 10 I felt completely back to normal, as if I'd never had surgery. No soreness or pain at all. So it does get better. Hang in there!

EDIT: I just noticed that mine was a different procedure, sorry about that. General principle still applies though; gotta just forge ahead. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
